BOYS BASKETBALL: Gorman can’t hold fourth-quarter lead in loss to Santa Margarita

Bishop Gorman could not hold a fourth-quarter lead and allowed two players to score at least 30 points in a Friday night home loss to Santa Margarita (Calif.), 83-78.

Jamal Bey had a double-double for the Gaels, finishing with 26 points and 10 rebounds.

Christian Popoola had 15 points for Gorman, and Ryan Kiley and Chuck O’Bannon each scored 14.

Eldorado 72, Basic 66 — At Eldorado, Jordan Carter’s 14 points led the Sundevils past the Wolves.

Reggie Ingram and Jonathan Thomas each scored 13 points for the Sundevils.

Cris Dominguez led all scorers with 21 points, and Geoff Faries scored 16 points for Basic.

Cimarron-Memorial 62, Del Sol 53 — At Cimarron, Demarco Alexander led three double-figure scorers with 17 points as the Spartans topped the Dragons.

Kamakana Winquist added 16 points and seven rebounds, and Brian Washington had 10 points and seven rebounds for Cimarron, which led 47-38 after three quarters.

Mati Asfaw led Del Sol with 13 points, and teammate Taariq Flowers scored 11.

Cheyenne 89, Spring Valley 52 — At Spring Valley, Kavon Williams led Cheyenne with 19 points as the Desert Shields defeated the Grizzlies.

D’Andre Houston finished with 16 points, Damion Bonty had 13 points, and William Federson scored 12 for the Desert Shields.

Bonanza 65, Word of Life 40 — At Bonanza, Brandon Noone led all scorers with 19 points to lead the Bengals by the Eagles.

Steven Reese scored 12 points for the Bengals.

Ivan Candolesas led Word of Life with 14 points, and Darnell Murrell had 10 points.

Innovations International 75, Indian Springs 37 — At Innovations International, Justin Evans scored 30 points to lead the Dragons over the Thunderbirds.

Derec Anderson had 16 points, and Eugene Stewart scored 10 for the Dragons, who led 38-18 at halftime.

Findlay Prep 86, Faith Lutheran 51 — At Henderson International, the Pilots defeated the Crusaders.

Virgin Valley 53, Boulder City 48 — At Lake Mead, Hogan Fowles hit a 3-pointer with eight seconds remaining in double overtime to carry the Bulldogs over the Eagles in the Lake Mead Holiday Classic.

Fowles had 12 points, Jarett Tietjen added 14 points, and Jayden Perkins scored 11 for the Bulldogs.

Justus Green and Bailey Karson each had 16 points for the Eagles.

Virgin Valley 59, Lake Mead 29 — At Lake Mead, Devin Cox scored 16 points to lead the Bulldogs in a rout of the Eagles in the Lake Mead Holiday Classic.

Andrew Memmot had 14 points, and Hogan Fowles scored 11 for the Bulldogs, who outscored the Eagles 26-10 in the first half.

Shay Rutledge led Lake Mead with 11 points.

West Wendover 61, Calvary Chapel 52 — At Lake Mead, Bryan Flores scored 21 points to lead the Wolverines past the Lions in the Lake Mead Holiday Classic.

Zade Elton had 19 points for West Wendover, which used a 21-11 second-quarter run to take control of the game.

Elijah Martinez scored 30 points, while teammate Arron Abay added 13 points.

The Meadows 65, Spring Creek 54 — At Lake Mead, Jake Epstein scored 31 points to lead the Mustangs past the Spartans in the Lake Mead Holiday Classic.

Asheesh Chopra scored 16 points, while Joe Epstein added 11 points for the Mustangs, who outscored the Spartans 26-16 in the fourth quarter for the win.

Boulder City 61, Fernley 46 — At Lake Mead, Carson Balistere scored 22 points to lead the Eagles past the Vaqueros in the Lake Mead Holiday Classic.

Karson Bailey added 14 points for the Eagles, who scored 19 points in the fourth quarter.

Drake Howe scored 15 points to lead the Vaqueros, while Zach Burns added 11 points.

Moapa Valley 55, Lincoln County 40 — At Lake Mead, Trey Jones and Tyler Peterson each scored 11 points to lead the Pirates past the Lynx in the Lake Mead Holiday Classic.

Dalyn Leavitt and Chase Kruse each scored eight points for the Pirates, who used a 15-5 fourth-quarter run to win the game.

Kobe Walker scored 11 points to lead the Lynx.

SLAM Academy 52, Laughlin 46 — At Lake Mead, Londan Coleman scored 19 points to lead SLAM Academy past the Cougars in the Lake Mead Holiday Classic.

Jamaal Carr Jr. added 10 points for SLAM, which outscored the Cougars 27-14 in the first half.

Corey Anderson scored 18 points to lead the Cougars, while Coda Abbati added 10 points.

West Wendover 54, The Meadows 50 — At Lake Mead, Zade Elton led all scorers with 23 points as he led West Wendover to victory over the Mustangs in the Lake Mead Holiday Classic.

Saul Palacios also finished in double-figures with 10 points for West Wendover.

Jake Epstein finished with 23 points for the Mustangs, and brother Joe Epstein scored 11.

Desert Oasis 56, Youngker (Ariz.) 46 — At Yuma, Arizona, Jacob Heese scored 22 points to lead the Diamondbacks past the Roughriders in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Tiago Miyano added 10 points for the Diamondbacks, who took control of the game with a 16-6 second-quarter run.

Isaiah Villanueva scored 15 points to lead the Roughriders.

Desert Oasis 65, Copper Canyon (Ariz.) 62 — At Yuma, Arizona, Maitland Williams scored 23 points to lead the Diamondbacks past the Aztecs in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Jacob Heese scored 22 points, and Tiago Miyano added 10 points for Desert Oasis, which rallied from a 10-point first-quarter deficit.

Trey McCray scored 19 points to lead the Aztecs, while James Guiterrez poured in 18 points and Malik Abdul-Hakim added 14 points.

Kofa (Ariz.) 67, Mountain View 64 — At Yuma, Arizona, Jeremy Smith hit six 3-pointers and scored 22 points as the Kings defeated the Saints in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Terrence Brooks had 35 points to lead Mountain View, and brother Tyrell Brooks scored 28.

Mountain View 57, Yuma (Ariz.) 47 — At Yuma, Arizona, Tyrell Brooks led the way for Mountain View as he scored 30 points to give them the victory over Yuma in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Terrance Brooks scored 15 points, and Daniel Reyes scored six for the Saints.

Needles 57, Grand Canyon (Ariz.) 23 — At Williams, Arizona, Trey Tsosie scored 14 points as the Mustangs rolled past the Phantoms in the Williams Holiday Classic.

Neegan Vaska led Grand Canyon 34-15 at the half.

Needles 49, Williams (Ariz.) 29 — At Williams, Arizona, Dillon Darrow had 15 points and five assists to lead the Mustangs over the Vikings in the Williams Holiday Classic.

Gillman Jenkins added eight points and five steals for Needles.

Zack Perkins led Williams with 11 points.

Pahranagat Valley 64, Eureka 28 — At Wells, Culen Highbe led three double-figure scorers with 18 points as the Panthers topped the Vandals in the Wells Rural Electric Tournament.

Tabor Maxwell added 16 points, and Cody Williams scored 10 for Pahranagat Valley, which led 43-20 at halftime.

Pahranagat Valley 51, JV Elko 24 — At Wells, Maxwell had 12 points, and Brodey Maxwell scored 11 to lift the Panthers over the Indians’ junior varsity in the Wells Rural Electric Tournament.

Tyson Jorgensen added 10 points for Pahrangat Valley, which led 23-8 at halftime.

Wells 35, Round Mountain 34 — At Wells, the Leopards defeated the Knights in the Wells Rural Electric Tournament.

Liberty Baptist 50, Somerset-Sky Pointe 43 — At Somerset-Sky Pointe, Seth Sullivan scored 22 points to lead Liberty Baptist over Somerset-Sky Pointe.

Trevor Campbell added 10 points for Liberty Baptist, which won it’s 100th game.

Jaden Macfarlane led Somerset-Sky Pointe with 12 points.
