BOYS BASKETBALL: Maka Ellis scores 52 to power Sierra Vista

Maka Ellis poured in 52 points Monday night to lead the Sierra Vista boys basketball team to an 86-79 win over visiting Desert Oasis.

Chris McCoy added 12 points for the Mountain Lions.

Jacob Heese scored 27 points to lead Desert Oasis. Taiga Miyano had 21 points, and Manny Mitchell scored 16 for the Diamondbacks.

Moapa Valley 61, Tech 59 — At Overton, the Pirates forced a turnover as time expired in overtime to hold on and beat the Roadrunners.

Nathaniel Thompson scored 26 to lead Moapa Valley, which outscored Tech 19-12 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Jurelle Orbino led the Roadrunners with 22 points, and teammate Justin Mixson had 16 points.

Rancho 61, Eldorado 59 — At Eldorado, the Rams held on as the Sundevils missed two shots in the final two seconds.

Justin Holiday had 23 points to lead Rancho, and Jahleel Stevens added 12 points for the Rams.

Kemo Bell scored 21 points to lead the Sundevils,. Jonathan Thomas, Jordan Carter and Dexter Davis each scored 10 points for Eldorado.

Bonanza 54, Spring Valley 54 — At Bonanza, Steven Reese scored on a layup as time expired to lift the Bengals past the Grizzlies.

Chase Hafen led Bonanza with 15 points, 16 rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Brandon Noone added 14 points, and Reese socred 12 for Bonanza.

Keelan Wickersham scored 23 points to lead Spring Valley.

Virgin Valley 54, Del Sol 52 — At Mesquite, Andrew Memmott hit two free throws with 11 seconds left to seal the Bulldogs’ victory over the Dragons.

Jarett Tietjen led Virgin Valley with 17 points and six assists. Memmott had 14 points, and teammate Hogan Fowles scored 12.

Keith Seldon led Del Sol with 13 points. Jonathan Spearman scored 11 for the Dragons, and teammate Byron Rowson had 10 points.

Valley 42, Mojave 39 — At Mojave, Bryce Jones scored 14 points as he led the Vikings to victory over the Rattlers.

Valley’s John King and Juan De Dios-Magana each scored 10 points.

Chaparral 58, Boulder City 51 — At Chaparral, Ronnie Hicks had 18 points to help carry the Cowboys over the Eagles.

Chaparral’s Jonathan Tendale scored 10 points, Marcus Hilliard had six points and 14 rebounds, and Samuel Porras had nine points and 10 rebounds.

Justus Green led Boulder City with 19 points.

Canyon Springs 75, Las Vegas 49 — At Canyon Springs, Kevin Legardy and Christopher Hawkins each scored 12 points as the Pioneers defeated the Wildcats.

Canyon Springs’ Tyreke Robertson scored 11 points, and De’Shawn Keperling scored 10 points for the Pioneers.

Las Vegas’ Donovan Joyner led all scorers with 27 points.

Agassi Prep 78, Laughlin 26 — At Laughlin, Akeemis Williams led all scorers with 27 points as the Stars defeated the Cougars.

Najeeb Muhammad scored 16 points, and teammate Jared Holmes scored 13 points for Agassi Prep.

Corey Anderson led Laughlin with seven points.

Innovations International 75, Indian Springs 40 — At Indian Springs, Justin Evans had 18 points as the Ambassadors routed the Thunderbirds.

Derec Anderson added 14 points, and Eugene Stewart scored nine for Innovations International, which led 40-24 at halftime.

Nino Alvarez and Dallin Davis each scored 12 points for Indian Springs.

Beaver Dam JV 48, GV Christian 42 — At Littlefield, Arizona, the Diamondbacks junior varsity edged the Eagles.
