BOYS BASKETBALL: Muhammad, Pioneers hold off Las Vegas

Zaahid Muhammad scored 19 points Thursday to lead Canyon Springs' boys basketball team to a 60-55 home win over Las Vegas.

Laymon Jackson added 16 points for the Pioneers, who led 30-27 at the half. The win leaves Canyon Springs and Las Vegas tied at 4-4 in the Northeast League. The Pioneers get the league's No. 3 playoff seed on a tiebreaker.

Deandre Northey led the Wildcats with 16 points. Donovan Joyner had 12 points, and teammate Marquise Raybon scored 10 for Las Vegas.

Eldorado 86, Green Valley 72 — At Eldorado, Carl Crayon scored 27 points and was 10-for-10 from the free-throw line as the Sundevils downed the Gators to earn the Southeast League's No. 2 playoff seed.

Carmonte Jones added 16 points, Shane Barnes had 15 points, and Dyllan Kounovsky scored 14 for Eldorado, which used a 21-13 third quarter run to take control.

Xavier Jarvis scored 28 points for Green Valley, and Canyon Lewis had 17 points for the Gators.

Desert Oasis 79, Arbor View 65 — At Arbor View, Aamondae Coleman scored 27 points to lead the Diamondbacks past the Aggies.

Jacob Heese scored 15 points, and Drevin Cannon added 14 points for Desert Oasis, which led 42-27 at the half.

Jarrod Burks had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Aggies, and teammate Jesse Vogel added 15 points.

Coronado 72, Rancho 40 — At Coronado, Jake DesJardins had 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Cougars defeated the Rams to complete an undefeated run through the Southeast League.

Kennedy Koehler had 16 points and 14 rebounds for Coronado, which led 42-16 at the half. Bryce Savoy added 12 points for the Cougars.

Chrys Jackson scored 13 points to pace Rancho.

Liberty 65, Valley 41 — At Liberty, Kahlil DeRouen scored 19 points to lead the Patriots to victory over the Vikings.

Kyle Thaxton added 16 points for Liberty, which led 23-6 after one quarter. The win secured the Northeast League's top playoff seed for the Patriots.

Roell King had 12 points for Valley.

Centennial 68, Cimarron-Memorial 39 — At Cimarron-Memorial, Troy Brown scored 17 points to lead the Bulldogs in a rout of the Spartans.

Isaiah Banks added 15 points for Centennial, which outscored Cimarron 26-15 in the first half.

Roy Sparks scored 12 points, while Darian Scott added 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Jeremiah Broussard and Ja'Don Brown each scored 11 points for the Spartans.

Foothill 82, Basic 66 — At Basic, Jace Roquemore led four double-figure scorers with 19 points as the Falcons beat the Wolves.

Jonny Rolle had 13 points, and Jeron Bodin added 12 points for Foothill, which got 10 points from Devon Erb.

Tyrone Myers led Basic with 19 points, and Kerry Keyes scored 16 for the Wolves.

Desert Pines 76, Tech 30 — At Desert Pines, Greg Floyd scored 17 points as the Jaguars routed the Roadrunners.

Javell Watkins had 10 points and nine rebounds for Desert Pines, and teammate Trevon Abdullah scored 11. The Jaguars led 29-4 after one quarter.

Jurelle Orbino paced Tech with 11 points.

Virgin Valley 56, Boulder City 46 — At Mesquite, Andrew Memmott scored 18 points to help the Bulldogs defeat the Eagles.

Hogan Fowles had seven of his 17 points in the fourth quarter as Virgin Valley outscored Boulder City 23-13 to secure the win.

Cody Jones added eight points and 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Carson Balistere led Boulder City with 11 points, and teammate Zach Murphy scored 10.
