BOYS BASKETBALL: Palo Verde earns key Northwest League win over Sierra Vista

Billy Sparks led four double-figure scorers with 16 points Tuesday to help Palo Verde’s boys basketball team hold off visiting Sierra Vista, 74-68.

Travis Gondrezick added 15 points, and Braxton Richard scored 11 for the Panthers, who led 32-24 at the half. Chase Ruiz had 10 points for Palo Verde.

Mikko Balmes scored 19 points to lead Sierra Vista, and teammate Apollo Corley added 11 points.

Arbor View 81, Spring Valley 65 — At Arbor View, Charles Porter scored 17 points as the Aggies clinched at least a share of the Northwest League title by beating the Grizzlies.

Isaiah Simmons had 14 points and 10 rebounds to help Arbor View. Tristan Lacy had 15 points, and Justin Burks scored 13 for the Aggies, who also got 12 points from Terrell Butler.

Ryan Goecke led Spring Valley with 23 points. Travis Walton had 12 points, and Terrell Lee scored 10 for the Grizzlies.

Canyon Springs 66, Silverado 35 — At Canyon Springs, Shaquile Carr scored 21 points to power the Pioneers past the Skyhawks.

Gerad Davis supplied 14 points, and Jordan Davis scored 11 for Canyon Springs.

Joe Baldi tallied 20 points for Silverado.

Las Vegas 83, Rancho 58 — At Rancho, Re’Kwon Smith scored 21 points, and Patrick Savoy tallied 20 points to lead the Wildcats to a rout of the Rams.

Deshawn Weathers and Tyler Bey supplied 11 points apiece for Las Vegas, which rolled to a 52-22 halftime lead.

David McKeever had 13 points and Chrys Jackson 10 for Rancho.

Coronado 67, Liberty 48 — At Liberty, Nick Kornieck poured in 31 points, helping the Cougars get by the Patriots.

Eddie Austin added 12 points for Coronado, which jumped out to a 20-6 first quarter lead.

Elijah Graves had 17 points and six rebounds for Liberty.

Foothill 79, Del Sol 51 — At Foothill, Matt Rapp scored 16 points as the Falcons downed the Dragons.

Austin Starr had 10 points, and David Persi added nine points for Foothill, which had 12 players score.

Brian Greer had 14 points, and Rashaun Lawson supplied 13 points to lead Del Sol.

Valley 80, Green Valley 66 — At Green Valley, Cameron Burton scored 26 points, and Spencer Mathis added 22 points to lead the Vikings to a win over the Gators.

Taveon Jackson supplied 12 points, and Gerard Harden had 11 points for Valley, which outscored Green Valley 52-37 in the second half.

Tyrell Crosby provided 19 points and 17 rebounds to lead Green Valley. Troy Cropper added 16 points, and Xavier Jarvis scored 11 for the Gators.

Basic 59, Eldorado 48 — At Eldorado, Josh Villaros scored 20 points to help the Wolves overcome an early deficit and beat the Sundevils.

Jared Meacham added 12 points for Basic, which used an 18-8 second-quarter run to grab a 28-26 lead.

D’Quan Crockett had 15 points, and Darrion Daniels scored 11 for Eldorado, which got 10 points from Jayveon Brown.

The Meadows 69, Mountain View 53 — At Mountain View, Brian Fridman and Eric Hirsberg scored 18 points apiece to help the Mustangs defeat the Saints.

Jake Epstein added 13 points for The Meadows, which took control in the third quarter.

Connor LeBoeuf led Mountain View with 20 points, and teammate Matthew Larson added 17 points.

Lake Mead 39, Laughlin 32 — At Laughlin, Brendon LeBaron scored 10 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter and grabbed eight rebounds to help the Eagles rally past the Cougars.

Dylan Graham had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Lake Mead, which trailed 28-22 entering the fourth quarter.

Spring Mountain 66, Pahranagat Valley 51 — At Saville Middle School, Harlow Hawkins had 17 points as the Golden Eagles downed the Panthers.

George Brown added 11 points for Spring Mountain.

Christian Higbee had 14 points, and Tabor Maxwell scored 11 for Pahranagat Valley.
