BOYS BASKETBALL: Popoola, Gaels top Flyers

Christian Popoola had 24 points and three assists Saturday to lead Bishop Gorman's boys basketball team to a 71-52 home win over Dixie (Utah).

Charles O'Bannon added 13 points, and Ryan Kiley scored 12 for the Gaels, who led 23-7 after one quarter.

Zach Collins had eight points, 17 rebounds, eight blocked shots, four assists and two steals for Gorman.

Tyler Bennett led the Flyers with 22 points.

Needles 75, White Pine 49 — At Needles, Calif., Trenton Poe-Evans had 16 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots to lead the Mustangs over the Bobcats.

Irving Juarez added 20 points for Needles, which led 43-20 at the half.

Frankie Garcia added 11 points, and teammate Derek Wagstaff scored 10 for Needles.

Sam Stewart, Gabe Harris and Colton Rowley each had 10 points for White Pine.

Sierra Canyon (Calif.) 74, Desert Pines 59 — At Chatsworth, Calif., Devearl Ramsey had 18 points to lead four Trailblazers in double figures as they topped the Jaguars.

Greg Floyd led Desert Pines with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Trevon Abdullah added 16 points and five rebounds, and Capri Uzan had nine points and seven assists for the Jaguars.

Pahranagat Valley 2, Lund 0 — At Alamo, the Panthers beat the Mustangs by forfeit.
