BOYS BASKETBALL: Ruiz’s 40-footer helps Panthers edge Trailblazers

Chase Ruiz hit a 40-footer at the buzzer Tuesday to lead Palo Verde’s boys basketball team to a 95-92 win over visiting Durango.

Taylor Miller had 16 points, and Ruiz scored 14 for the Panthers, who trailed 45-40 at the half. Travis Gondrezick scored 12 points, and Kyler Hack had 10 points for Palo Verde.

Darryl Gaynor had 25 points, and Alex Arias added 19 points to lead the Trailblazers. Vee Price had 17 points, and Alex Tarkanian scored 14 for Durango, which also got 11 points from Drew Hammond.

Eldorado 52, Liberty 50 — At Eldorado, Jayveon Brown hit a 10-foot jumper with 10 seconds to play to lift the Sundevils over the Patriots.

D’Quan Crockett had 17 points for the Sundevils, who led 26-17 at the half before the Patriots rallied. Brown finished with eight points.

Noah Jefferson led Liberty with 19 points, and teammate Elijah Graves scored 18.

Basic 81, Del Sol 65 — At Basic, Josh Villaros had 20 points and nine rebounds to help the Wolves roll past the Dragons.

Chandler Kamai scored 18 points, and Shelldan Slayton added 12 points for Basic, which outscored Del Sol, 30-16 in the fourth quarter.

Brian Greer scored 25 points, and Rashaun Lawson added 16 points for Del Sol, which got 14 points from Kyle Collins.

Foothill 92, Coronado 64 — At Foothill, Jalen Shepard had 28 points and eight rebounds, and teammate Austin Starr supplied 25 points to lead the Cougars past the Falcons.

Torrance Littles contributed 11 points and nine rebounds for Foothill.

Eddie Austin scored 17 points, and Austin Morgan added 11 points for Coronado. Marcus Sobaszek and Nick Kornieck each scored 10 for the Cougars.

Las Vegas 63, Silverado 37 — At Las Vegas, Re’Kwon Smith scored 15 points to help the Wildcats rout the Skyhawks.

Patrick Savoy added 14 points for Las Vegas, which led 26-16 at the half and used a 24-7 third-quarter run to pull away.

Joe Baldi led Silverado with 21 points.

Sierra Vista 71, Spring Valley 48 — At Spring Valley, Mikko Balmes scored 19 points to propel the Mountain Lions over the Grizzlies.

Apollo Corley scored 14 points, and Nino Flores added 13 points for Sierra Vista, which used a 26-9 second quarter burst to pull away.

Ryan Goecke had 22 points to lead Spring Valley.

Arbor View 80, Shadow Ridge 55 — At Arbor View, Justin Burks had 25 points, and the Aggies sprinted to a 44-24 halftime lead and went on to rout the Mustangs.

Charles Porter scored 17 points, and Isaiah Simmons supplied 11 points and 10 rebounds for Arbor View, which got 10 points from Terrell Butler. Corey Moore had 10 assists for the Aggies.

Serph Decker scored 12 points, and Jordin Williams had 11 points for Shadow Ridge.

Green Valley 80, Rancho 62 — At Rancho, Troy Cropper and Tyrell Crosby each scored 16 points to help the Gators defeat the Rams.

Christopher Miller added 10 points for Green Valley, which led 39-22 at halftime.

Ryan Hafen led Rancho with 13 points, and teammate Chrys Jackson scored 11.

Mountain View 50, Needles 41 — At Needles, Calif., Connor LeBoeuf scored 12 of his 15 points in the second half to lead the Saints over the Mustangs.

Tevin Gray added 13 points for Mountain View, which trailed 31-30 entering the fourth quarter.

Wyatt Upshaw led Needles with 17 points, and teammate Trenton Poe-Evans scored 10.

Calvary Chapel 66, Lincoln County 44 — At Calvary Chapel, Killian Diers led a balanced attack with 13 points as the Lions topped the Lynx.

Quentin Hank and Chris Basilio each added 12 points for Calvary Chapel, which used an 18-2 second-quarter run to take a 37-14 halftime lead.

McClain O’Connor had 13 points, and Derek Shumway scored 12 for Lincoln County.

Agassi Prep 62, Lake Mead 19 — At Agassi Prep, Deishuan Booker had 27 points and nine assists as the Stars routed the Eagles.

Dennis Walker added 14 points and 12 rebounds for Agassi Prep.

Garieon Glenn and Dylan Graham each scored six points for Lake Mead.

Adelson School 45, Pahranagat Valley 40 — At Alamo, Rom Izkovich scored 14 points to help the Lions edge the Panthers.

Sean Perry added 10 points for Adelson.

Tabor Maxwell led Pahranagat Valley with 12 points.

Spring Mountain 66, Sandy Valley 31 — At Saville Middle School, George Brown had 14 points to help the Golden Eagles beat the Sidewinders.

Christian Harris and Devonte Richey each added 10 points for Spring Mountain.

Lane Eastham led Sandy Valley with nine points.
