BOYS BASKETBALL: Santillan’s layup gives Desert Shields win over Grizzlies

Ulises Santillan made a layup with three seconds to play to lift Cheyenne’s boys basketball team to a 52-51 victory over visiting Spring Valley on Friday.

Joseph Rose led the Desert Shields with 23 points and 13 rebounds.

Bruce Gaitor added 11 points for the Desert Shields, and Santillan scored six points.

Carl Albert scored 22 points to lead the Grizzlies, and teammate Ryan Goecke added 12 points.

Arbor View 60, Basic 51 — At Arbor View, Trent Hunt scored a game-high 26 points and the Aggies used a 19-10 fourth-quarter run to down the Wolves.

Calvin Brooks scored 14 points for the Aggies, and Rashaad Thomas and Jesse Vogel each scored eight points for Arbor View.

The game was tied 41-41 after three quarters.

Josh Villaros scored 20 points to lead the Wolves. Matthew Esplin added 11 points for Basic.

Cimarron-Memorial 72, Western 53 — At Cimarron-Memorial, Terrell Walker had 13 points and 10 rebounds to push the Spartans past the Warriors.

Cimarron’s Derek Morefield had 12 points, and teammate Demarco Alexander scored 10. Bryan Wachowski-Cook added nine points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans.

Kwan Carter scored a game-high 17 points for Western, which also got 11 points from Miles Snyder.

Bishop Gorman 66, Liberty 31 — At Liberty, Stephen Zimmerman scored 15 points as the Gaels routed the Patriots.

Ugo Amadi and Chase Jeter each had 10 points for Gorman.

John-Lee Davis scored 10 points to lead Liberty.

Del Sol 71, Pahrump Valley 33 — At Del Sol, Noah Spearman had 21 points and 11 rebounds to help the Dragons roll past the Trojans.

JonRoss Juhas added 14 points, and Jonathan Spearman scored 10 for Del Sol, which led 32-16 at halftime.

Uriel Ramberg-Wiley led Pahrump with 13 points.

Sierra Vista 56, Chaparral 49 — At Chaparral, Maka Ellis scored 21 points to lead the Mountain Lions past the Cowboys.

Payton Dickerson and Dominique Marcy each added eight points for Sierra Vista, which led by one point at halftime but outscored Chaparral 14-8 in the third quarter.

Edgar Ramirez led the Cowboys with 11 points.

Foothill 69, Douglas 44 — At Minden, Te’Vion Reed scored 17 points, and the Falcons used a 22-10 second-quarter run on their way to a win over the Tigers.

Torrance Littles added 14 points for Foothill.

Sam Broersma and Connor Lyons each had nine points for Douglas.

Bonanza 77, Mojave 71 — At Mesquite, Jamal Logan and DaVonta Price each finished with 26 points to lift the Bengals past the Rattlers at the Bulldog Invitational.

Logan made five of Bonanza’s six 3-pointers. Price went 10-for-12 from the free-throw line and made all 10 of his foul shots in the second half.

Jordan Glenn had 21 points to lead four Mojave players in double figures. Jalen Cunningham had 13 points, Melvin Irvey had 12 points and Malik Abbott scored 11 for the Rattlers.

Virgin Valley 50, Kanab (Utah) 45 — At Mesquite, Zach Barnum made a 3-pointer with 54 seconds to play to break a 45-45 tie, and the Bulldogs beat the Cowboys at the Bulldog Invitational.

Barnum finished with 12 points. Marcus Saunders led Virgin Valley with 19 points. The Bulldogs went 19-for-28 from the free-throw line compared to a 6-for-13 effort from Kanab.

Davin Houston led Kanab with 12 points.

Desert Oasis 55, Enterprise (Utah) 47 — At Mesquite, Drevin Cannon poured in 22 points, and the Diamonbacks beat the Wolves at the Bulldog Invitational.

Aamondae Coleman added 11 points for Desert Oasis, which led 28-13 at halftime.

Isaac Wallin led Enterprise with 14 points.

Shadow Ridge 68, Moapa Valley 39 — At Mesquite, Jerell Springer scored 17 points as the Mustangs routed the Pirates at the Bulldog Invitational.

Kevin Branch added nine points for Shadow Ridge, which led 36-16 at halftime.

Jay Mortensen had a team-high 11 points for Moapa Valley.

The Meadows 64, Needles 48 — At The Meadows, Jake Epstein scored 26 points to lead The Meadows past Needles.

Asheesh Chopra added 15 points, and Max Hisatake scored 10 for The Meadows.

Cody Tobler scored 20 points to lead Needles, and teammate Trenton Poe-Evans added 10 points.

Lincoln County 39, Lake Mead 35 — At Lake Mead, McClain O’Connor and Mike Wood scored 11 points apiece to lead the Lynx over the Eagles.

Derek Shumway added seven points for Lincoln County, which led 22-13 at halftime.

Trey Vetter scored 18 points to lead Lake Mead.

Mountain View 60, White Pine 37 — At Mountain View, Christian Bennett had 15 points as the Saints rolled by the Bobcats.

Connoe LeBoeuf and Tevin Gray each scored 13 points, and Tyrell Brooks added 10 points for Mountain View, which led 38-16 at the half.

Jonathan Gust scored 10 for White Pine.

Agassi Prep 63, Calvary Chapel 26 — At Agassi Prep, Deishuan Booker had 30 points, eight assists and four steals as the Stars dominated the Lions.

Matthew Harney scored 10 for Calvary Chapel, which trailed 32-10 at halftime.
