BOYS BASKETBALL: Tharaldson, Crusaders outlast Western in OT

Gary Tharaldson scored seven of his game-high 18 points in overtime Wednesday to lead Faith Lutheran's boys basketball team to a 63-54 win over host Western in a Division I-A Sunset League game.

Jaylen Fox, who finished with 17 points, hit a 3-pointer with two seconds left in regulation for the Crusaders to tie the game at 49. Faith Lutheran outscored the Warriors 14-5 in overtime.

The Crusaders made nine 3-pointers and were 16-for-25 from the free-throw line.

Nakia Harris-Neal led Western with 16 points. Kwan Carter had 12 points, and Muhrad McCluney scored 10 for the Warriors.

Durango 72, Shadow Ridge 68 — At Shadow Ridge, Chase Ruiz hit four 3-pointers in the third quarter and finished with 21 points as the Trailblazers nipped the Mustangs.

Demetrius Valdez had 22 points, and Jason Landman scored 15 for Durango, which outscored Shadow Ridge 28-19 in the third quarter to take a 55-49 lead.

Jerell Springer scored 21 points to pace the Mustangs.

Kevin Branch had 15 points, and James Fuller added 10 points for Shadow Ridge, which missed a potential go-ahead shot late. Durango grabbed the rebound and made two free throws to ice the game.

Legacy 47, Palo Verde 44 — At Palo Verde, Timothy Jeffries scored 20 points as the Longhorns outlasted the Panthers.

De'Andre Winder added eight points for Legacy, which rallied from a 29-28 third-quarter deficit and hung on when Palo Verde missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Taylor Miller led the Panthers with 20 points.

Desert Pines 62, Del Sol 28 — At Del Sol, Greg Floyd scored 15 points as the Jaguars dropped the Dragons.

Trevon Abdullah added 13 points for Desert Pines, which held Del Sol to one point in the second quarter and led 28-9 at halftime.

Bo Beagle led the Dragons with 10 points.

Moapa Valley 44, Boulder City 41 — At Boulder City, Jay Mortensen scored 19 points and the Pirates held off a late charge to edge the Eagles.

Derek Cope added eight points for Moapa Valley.

Tanner Montgomery had 14 points and Justus Green pulled down 17 rebounds for Boulder City, which trailed 39-26 before going on a 15-5 run in the fourth quarter.

Chaparral 72, Tech 54 — At Chaparral, Samuel Porras had 17 points, seven assists and five rebounds to guide the Cowboys to victory over the Roadrunners.

Fabrice McKinley scored 16 points, and Marcus Hilliard added 14 points for Chaparral, which jumped out to a 38-27 halftime lead.

Jurelle Orbino had 23 points, and Paul Galang had 11 points to pace Tech.

Virgin Valley 63, Sunrise Mountain 52 — At Sunrise Mountain, Zach Barnum poured in 20 points, and Andrew Memmot had 13 points as the Bulldogs overcame a four-point halftime deficit to down the Miners.

Marcus Saunders added 11 points, and Hogan Fowles scored 10 for Virgin Valley, which outscored Sunrise Mountain 42-27 in the second half.

Tyreke Robertson led Sunrise Mountain with 11 points, and Tyri White scored 10 for the Miners.

Sierra Vista 65, Spring Valley 46 — At Sierra Vista, Davion Hollis and Maui SeraJosef each scored 14 points to lead the Mountain Lions by the Grizzlies.

Tanner Lewis added 13 points for Sierra Vista, which led 28-24 at halftime.

Ryan Frazier led Spring Valley with 11 points.

Cheyenne 69, Pahrump Valley 26 — At Cheyenne, Dewayne Alexander scored 15 points to spark the Desert Shields to a win over the Trojans.

William Federson had 11 points, and David Rose added 10 points for Cheyenne, which used a 21-3 second-quarter run to seize a 49-14 lead.

Danny Foss paced Pahrump Valley with 17 points.

Word of Life 48, Spring Mountain 43 — At Indian Springs, Trent McCall had 18 points to lead Word of Life to victory.

Elijah Hoye had 15 points for Word of Life.

Guy Whitley had 18 points, and D'Quan Porchia scored 16 for Spring Mountain.
