BOYS BASKETBALL: Thaxton, balanced Patriots nip Canyon Springs

Kyle Thaxton led a balanced attack with 13 points, and host Liberty's boys basketball team held on for a 70-69 win over Canyon Springs on Monday.

The Patriots led 70-67 with six seconds left, and didn't give the Pioneers a look at a potential tying 3-point shot. Canyon Springs settled for a layup, and time expired before Liberty had to inbound the ball.

David Bravo added 11 points, and Cameron Burist scored 10 for Liberty.

Derrick Legardy led Canyon Springs with 21 points, and teammates Darion Jackson and Joseph Haulcy each added 15 points.

Silverado 68, Las Vegas 51 — At Silverado, Kris Coe went 10-for-11 from the free-throw line and had 20 points to lead the Skyhawks by the Wildcats.

Matthew Arnold added 18 points, and teammate Tyric Johnson scored 16 for Silverado.

Dartanion Myers and Marquise Raybon each had 12 points for Las Vegas.

Desert Oasis 90, Bonanza 63 — At Bonanza, Drevin Cannon and Aamondae Coleman each scored 24 points as the Diamondbacks rolled past the Bengals.

Jacob Heese and Andre Aguilera each added 15 points for Desert Oasis, which made 18 of 19 free throws.

John Holden scored 21 points to lead Bonanza, which got 17 points from Jamal Logan.

Cimarron-Memorial 79, Arbor View 57 — At Cimarron, Jeremiah Broussard had 23 points, seven rebounds and three steals to lead the Spartans past the Aggies.

Demarco Alexander added 21 points, eight rebounds and four steals, and teammate Keiron Hatchett had 14 points for Cimarron.

Jesse Vogel led Arbor View with 16 points. Corey Johnson and Jarrod Burks each had 12 points for the Aggies.

Green Valley 64, Rancho 60 — At Rancho, Xavier Jarvis scored 18 points, and the Gators edged the Rams.

Canyon Lewis added 15 points, and Matthew Tuttle scored 10 for Green Valley, which trailed 49-48 entering the fourth quarter.

Chrys Jackson led Rancho with 24 points, and teammate Lamont Traylor scored 10.

Coronado 92, Basic 56 — At Coronado, Kennedy Koehler had 26 points, 20 rebounds and five assists to lead the Cougars by the Wolves.

Jake DesJardins and Patrick Simms each had 14 points, and Bryce Savoy added 12 points for Coronado, which led 46-24 at the half.

Cordale Cummings led Basic with 12 points.

Adelson School 54, Lake Mead 36 — At Adelson School, Miles Hagen scored 12 points to lead the Lions past the Eagles.

Jake Buchman scored 11 points, and Brandon Pappas added 10 points for Adelson School, which led 24-14 at the half.

Shay Rutledge scored 14 points to lead Lake Mead.

Liberty Baptist 48, Green Valley Christian 19 — At Heinrich YMCA, the Eagles cruised to a win.
