BOYS BASKETBALL: Wildcats hold off Chargers

Patrick Savoy and Tyler Bey each had 16 points and Las Vegas High’s boys basketball team held on for a 59-57 home win over Clark on Saturday.
Devon Colley added 15 points for the Wildcats, who trailed by 12 in the first half but outscored the Chargers 19-9 in the third quarter to take 43-37 lead.
Las Vegas held on despite making just 6 of 18 free throws in the second half. The Wildcats were 9-for-10 from the line in the first half.
Darius Jackson and Ty’Rek Wells each scored 12 points to lead a balanced Clark attack. Colby Jackson scored 11, Carter Olsen 10 and Keyshaun Webb nine for the Chargers.
Virgin Valley 52, Pahranagat Valley 30 — At Mesquite, Marcus Saunders scored 15 points to help the Bulldogs top the Panthers.
Cody Burnside added 11 points for Virgin Valley, which outscored Pahranagat Valley 32-12 in the middle quarters.
Wade Leavitt led the Panthers with nine points.
Needles 67, White Pine 38 — At Ely, Trenton Poe-Evans had 21 points and 10 rebounds to help the Mustangs down the Bobcats.
Cody Tobler added 21 points and 11 rebounds for Needles, which led 28-10 after one quarter. Derek Wagstaff and Victor Ochoa each had six assists for the Mustangs.
Chris Young led White Pine with 14 points.
