Centennial’s Troy Brown leads USA past Argentina in U17 World Championships

Centennial’s Troy Brown had 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals Tuesday to lead the USA Men’s U17 basketball team to a 109-56 win over Argentina in the knockout round of the FIBA World Championships in Zaragoza, Spain.

Brown, who played 21 minutes, shot 3-for-8 from the field.

Former Findlay Prep standout Markus Howard added 10 points and three assists.

Howard made 4 of 6 shots, including two 3-pointers, in 20 minutes for the USA, which led 26-5 after the first quarter and 59-24 at halftime.

Collin Sexton and Carte’Are Gordon scored 14 points apiece to lead seven USA players in double-figures. The USA shot 42.5 percent from the field and finished 28-for-37 (75.7 percent) at the free-throw line.

The USA will meet South Korea in the quarterfinals on Thursday. A time has yet to be determined.
