DESERT OASIS

Head coach: Ryan Fretz, first season

2012-13 record: 6-20 (0-10 Southwest, sixth)

Returning lettermen (starters): Two (two)

Top players: G Jay Esguerra (Sr.), F Kodi Leslie (Jr.), F Deric Hammock (Jr.), G Rodrick Moore (Jr.)

Outlook: Fretz, who coached last season at Cimarron-Memorial, takes over a program hungry for success.

Esguerra averaged 6.1 assists per game last year, but he and Leslie are the only two lettermen back.

“We want to improve on last year’s performance by taking one bite at a time and using the on-court leadership and experience of Jay Esguerra,” Fretz said. “We’re looking for good things from newcomers, junior Deric Hammock and sophomore Aamondae Coleman.”
