Gorman boys take fifth in Beach Ball Classic

Rashad Muhammad and Noah Robotham each made two free throws in the final 30 seconds of overtime Monday to lift Bishop Gorman's boys basketball team to a 61-58 win over Rufus King (Wis.) in the fifth-place game of the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Gorman, which scored the game's first nine points, appeared to have the game in hand with a 47-38 lead late in the second half, but the Generals finished the half on an 11-2 run, capped by Austin Malone-Mitchell's 3-pointer with 0.2 seconds left.
The Gaels scored all of their overtime points from the free-throw line, making 12 of 14 shots in the extra period and building a 61-55 advantage before a 3-pointer at the buzzer closed the gap.
Muhammad finished with 30 points, 17 of those in the first half. Robotham added 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists for Gorman. Stephen Zimmerman blocked six shots.
Malone-Mitchell made five 3-pointers and had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead Rufus King.
