Howard, Pilots roll in Hoophall Classic

Markus Howard didn't miss a shot Sunday and scored 26 points to lead Findlay Prep's boy's basketball team to a 91-67 win over St. Benedict's Prep (N.J.) in the Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass.

Howard was 9-for-9 from the field, including 6-for-6 on 3-pointers. He also went 2-for-2 from the free-throw line and had six assists and three steals.

P.J. Washington added 16 points, nine rebounds and nine assists for the Pilots. Findlay's Skylar Mays (11 points) and Carlos Johnson (10 points) also reached double figures.

The Pilots took control by outscoring St. Benedict's 31-11 in the second quarter to take a 46-26 halftime advantage.

David Beatty led St. Benedict's with 20 points.

‘Four best teams’ vying for 5A boys basketball state title

The top four Class 5A boys basketball teams — Coronado, Liberty, Bishop Gorman and Arbor View — will play for the state title Thursday and Friday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
