Investigation ongoing into altercation at Sierra Vista-Bonanza boys game

An investigation into the altercation that brought a halt to Friday’s boys basketball game between Sierra Vista and host Bonanza is ongoing.

On Saturday, Southern Nevada Officials Association commissioner Marc Ratner said he is to obtain a DVD copy of the game from both schools.

Ratner said he will review the game film, meet with game officials, Clark County School District officials and representatives from both schools and talk with the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association before any decisions are made.

The game was suspended late in the fourth quarter Friday when an altercation involving players took place.

“There were some ejections,” Ratner said, adding that the ejected players will be suspended for a minimum of one game. Other suspensions are possible.

There has been no determination on the result of the game or if it will be resumed.

Both teams are scheduled to play again Monday with Bonanza visiting Spring Valley and Sierra Vista traveling to Western.

Friday’s meeting was the first of two this season between the teams, which are scheduled to play again at Sierra Vista in their regular-season finale on Feb. 13.
