Roundup: Bonanza beats Sierra Vista for first league win of the season

Chase Hafen led all scorers with 27 points and added 17 rebounds to give Bonanza’s boys basketball team its first league win of the season — a 64-58 home victory over Sierra Vista on Friday night.

Kendell Burrell also scored 14 points for the Bengals.

Sierra Vista’s Mathias Aavia led the team with 19 points, Isaiah Veal scored 13 points, and Jalen McFadden scored 12 points.

Bishop Gorman 85, Coronado 49 — At Coronado, Jamal Bey led all scorers with 31 points as the Gaels stormed past the Cougars.

Gorman guard Noah Taitz scored 22 points, and Will McClendon scored 12 points.

Coronado’s Taieem Comeaux led the team with 15 points, and Jaden Hardy scored 12.

Faith Lutheran 84, Canyon Springs 78 — At Canyon Springs, Elijah Kothe scored 37 points to lead the Crusaders past the Pioneers, snapping their 10-game winning streak.

Jaylen Fox scored 12 points, and Brevin Walter added 10 points for the Crusaders, who outscored the Pioneers 29-18 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

Alexander Spaight scored 25 points to lead the Pioneers.

De’Shawn Keperling scored 17 points, Jorden Williams scored 12 points, and Kevin Legardy added 10 points for the Pioneers.

Rancho 73, Valley 67 — At Rancho, James Brown scored 26 points as the Rams beat the Vikings in overtime.

Brown’s 3-pointer at the fourth-quarter buzzer tied the game at 66 to force the extra period.

Jahleel Stevens added 19 points, and Tejai Washington scored 15 for Rancho, which trailed 41-35 at the half.

Valley’s Oscar Burns scored 21 of his 26 points in the first half. Tommy Anderson added 20 points for the Vikings.

Eldorado 79, Las Vegas 58 — At Las Vegas High, Jordan Carter had 21 points and Dexter Davis scored 17 to lift the Sundevils to a decisive win over the Wildcats.

LeLenn Ross added 14 points for Eldorado, which had a 24-10 advantage in the third quarter.

Jaylin Headen had 21 points to lead Las Vegas.

Boulder City 75, Sky Pointe 39 — At Sky Pointe, Carson Balistere scored 16 points to lead Boulder City past Sky Pointe.

Karson Bailey scored 13 points for Boulder City, which outscored Sky Pointe 26-9 in the first quarter.

Treveonne Smith scored 12 points to lead Sky Pointe.

Findlay Prep 83, Shadow Mountain (Ariz.) 74 — At Montverde, Florida, Kyler Edwards scored 17 of his 19 points in the first half to help the Pilots build a 15-point halftime lead and hold off the Matadors in the semifinals of the Montverde Invitational Tournament.

Bol Bol added 15 points for Findlay Prep, ranked No. 6 nationally by USA Today. Spencer Washington had 13 points for the Pilots, who led 45-30 at the half before the Matadors pulled to within 58-53 after three quarters.

Findlay Prep will face host Montverde, ranked No. 1 nationally, in Saturday’s championship.

Jaelen House led 11th-ranked Shadow Mountain with 26 points. Antonion Reeves and Jovan Blacksher each had 19 points for the Matadors, who lost for the first time this season.

Tech 62, GV Christian 21 — At Tech, Jurelle Orbino scored 14 points to lead the Roadrunners past the Guardians.

Zail Lewis scored 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds, and Luis Avila scored 10 points for the Roadrunners, who started the game on a 23-5 run.

Vincent Bush scored seven points to lead the Guardians.

Moapa Valley 71, Virgin Valley 61 — At Mesquite, Derek Reese scored 29 points to lead the Pirates past the Bulldogs.

Nathaniel Thompson added 12 points for the Pirates, who outscored the Bulldogs 22-10 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

Daxon Toone scored 19 points to lead the Bulldogs. Jayden Perkins scored 12 points, and Koden Tietjen added 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Sunrise Mountain 56, Pahrump Valley 54 — At Pahrump, Steven Adeyemi scored 26 points as the Miners held on to beat the Trojans.

Anthony Proby-Jenson added eight points for the Miners, who were able to hold on for the win despite being outscored 16-11 in the fourth quarter.

Cory Bergan scored 11 points to lead the Trojans, and Bryce Odegard added 10 points.

Calvary Chapel 50, Lincoln County 40 — At Panaca, Paul Yoo scored 18 points and Elijah Martinez added 14 points to lift the Lions over the Lynx.

Elijah Harr led Lincoln County with 15 points.

Democracy Prep 72, Needles 27 — At Democracy Prep, Nahjeeb Muhammad scored 19 points and had 11 assists as the Blue Knights rolled past the Mustangs.

Akeemis Williams and Daniel Plummer each scored 12 points for the Blue Knights and Jared Holmes had 10 rebounds.

Trey Tsosie led the Mustangs with seven points.

Pahranagat Valley 67, SLAM Academy 64 — At SLAM Academy, Brodey Maxwell scored 19 points as the Panthers edged the Bulls.

Culen Highbe added 12 points, and Asher Haworth scored 10 for Pahranagat Valley.

Londan Coleman paced SLAM Academy with 21 points. Jalen Cunningham added 18 points, and teammate Jamaal Carr scored 12 for the Bulls.

Tonopah 69, Sandy Valley 66 — At Sandy Valley, the Muckers outscored the Sidewinders 47-29 in the second half to pull out the win.

Brandon Eastham led Sandy Valley with 18 points.

Indian Springs 64, Round Mountain 26 — At Round Mountain, Dallin Davis had 37 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals to help the Thunderbirds rout the Knights.

Indian Springs led 22-7 after one quarter and 41-17 at the half.
