ROUNDUP: Boyd leads late surge as Wolves boys top Bulldogs

DeVonte Boyd scored eight of his 13 points in the fourth quarter to help Basic’s boys basketball team rally for a 47-42 road victory Monday over Virgin Valley.
Jaylen Rose added 13 points for the Wolves, who outscored Virgin Valley 16-11 in the fourth quarter.
Cameron Jensen led the Bulldogs with 16 points.
Sunrise Mountain 62, Tech 53 — At Tech, Shmarlio Tolliver led a balanced attack with 14 points, and the Miners used a 17-6 third-quarter spurt to defeat the Roadrunners.
Ziryanni Simpson added 10 points for Sunrise Mountain.
Michael Johnson scored 20 points, and Manny Gonzalez had 10 for Tech.
Chaparral 61, Moapa Valley 45 — At Chaparral, Zach Kirschbaum had 24 points to lead the Cowboys past the Pirates.
Kevin Morgan and Jermaine Neal each added 10 points for Chaparral, which led 36-21 at the half.
Hayden Cooper led Moapa Valley with 10 points.
Legacy 72, Mojave 54 — At Legacy, Zach Lane had 26 points to lead the Longhorns past the Rattlers.
Cardon Harris added 14 points, and Quincy Rhodes scored 10 for Legacy.
Quintarus Harper led Mojave with 17 points, and Andrew Lott added 16 points for the Rattlers.
Needles 77, River Valley (Ariz.) 51 — At Needles, Calif., Michael Hills had 27 points and eight rebounds to give the Mustangs a win over the Dust Devils.
Aaron Burns added 19 points and 11 rebounds for Needles, which outscored River Valley 46-25 in the second half.
GIRLS
Durango 43, Rancho 39 — At Durango, Brea Belser hit a 3-pointer to give the Trailblazers the lead, and Durango sealed the double-overtime victory with three free throws.
Amanda Boucher led the Trailblazers with 13 points. Jasmine Thomas added eight points and seven assists for Durango, while
Brandi Reyes’ 12 rebounds and Marley Sandoval’s 10 boards helped the Trailblazers control the glass.
Mariah Coleman had 12 points for Rancho.
Chaparral 42, Moapa Valley 40 — At Overton, Jacquie Ferguson scored 12 points, and the Cowboys overcame a 10-point deficit in the final two minutes to rally past the Pirates.
Rebecca Vasquez added 10 points for Chaparral, which forced 11 turnovers in the final two minutes.
Ashley Noto paced Moapa Valley with 19 points.
Legacy 59, Mojave 46 — At Legacy, Latia Matthews had 21 points, 23 rebounds and eight blocked shots to lead the Longhorns past the Rattlers.
Shakita Cox had 19 points for Legacy, which outscored the Rattlers 21-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away.
Candice McFarland pulled down eight rebounds for Legacy.
Jazzmine Robinson led Mojave with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and teammate Tashahni Thomas added 16 points.
Virgin Valley 52, Basic 38 — At Basic, Rachel Morris tallied 16 points, and the Bulldogs used a 15-7 third-quarter run to pull away from the Wolves.
Jenelle Weythman added 15 points for Virgin Valley.
Basic’s Kailai Brantner had 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Kelsey Gunther scored 10 for the Wolves.
Needles 46, River Valley (Ariz.) 19 — At Needles, Calif., Gena Chavira scored 16 points, and the Mustangs bolted to a 15-4 first-quarter lead on their way to a rout of the Dust Devils.
Abby Chandler added 15 points for Needles.
