Roundup: Democracy Prep overcomes Bonita Vista

Democracy Prep star Najeeb Muhammad spent most of the second half on the bench with foul trouble on Saturday at the Battle Born Classic at Durango.

It didn’t matter.

Daniel Plumer had 21 points, and Muhammad scored 19 as the Blue Knights held off Bonita Vista (California) for a 63-51 win.

Muhammad had 17 points at the half, but picked up his fourth foul with 4:22 to go in the third quarter and spent more than eight minutes on the bench.

Chancellor Johnson added 12 points and six rebounds for Democracy Prep.

DM Sanders led the Barons with 14 points, and teammate Adrian Wade had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Virgin Valley 41, Pahranagat Valley 40 — At Mesquite, Will Barnum hit a game-winning 3-pointer as time expired to lift the Bulldogs over the Panthers

Koden Tietjen led Virgin Valley with 14 points, and Barnum finished with 12 points.

Stockton Maxwell had 20 points, and teammate Kyler Martin scored 10 for Pahranagat Valley.

Centennial 82, Durango 67 — At Durango, Jairus Dickson led four double-figure scorers with 18 points as the Bulldogs topped the Trailblazers in the Battle Born Classic.

Dickson scored the game’s first seven points as Centennial raced to a 21-6 lead after one quarter.

Austin Anderson added 17 points for Centennial. Savio Rivera had 12 points, and Leland Wallace added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Keshon Gilbert paced Durango with 24 points. Anthony Hunter added 13 points, and Jeremiah Beckwood scored 10 for the Trailblazers.

Cheyenne 49, Snow Canyon (Utah) 36 — At Durango, Glenn Taylor had 10 of his 16 points in the second half to help the Desert Shields rally to defeat the Warriors in the Battle Born Classic.

Cheyenne closed the third quarter on a 9-0 run, then scored the first five points of the fourth quarter to take a 40-28 lead.

Damion Bonty added 11 points for the Desert Shields.

Jakob Dunkley led Snow Canyon with 10 points.

Elko 53, Rancho 50 — At Durango, freshman Mike Klekas had 20 points and six rebounds as the Indians held off the Rams in the Battle Born Classic.

Rancho cut the lead to 39-35 on a drive by James Brown with 5:56 to play before Elko went on a 9-2 run highlighted by seven points from Klekas.

Alex Klekas added 12 points, and Ronin Rowley had 11 points and six rebounds before being ejected for picking up a pair of technical fouls with 4:52 to go in the third quarter.

Brown had 31 points and five rebounds to lead Rancho. Brown scored 27 points in the second half for the Rams, who got 11 points and eight rebounds from Ta’Quawm Dillon-Hodges.

The Meadows 66, Mountain View 33 — At The Meadows, Obinna Ezeanolue had 22 points and 12 rebounds to power the Mustangs by the Saints.

Allen Fridman added 17 points, five rebounds and four assists, and Camden Faxe scored 11 for The Meadows.

Alex Diaz and Nicholas Santana each had nine points for Mountain View.

Lincoln County 65, Lake Mead 43 — At Lake Mead, Cody Zile scored 15 points, and the Lynx used a 35-15 run in the middle quarters to top the Eagles.

Alex Vincent and Noah Smith each added 14 points, and Kobe Kelley scored 11 for Lincoln County.

Donte Bristol led Lake Mead with 18 points.

Calvary Chapel 54, SLAM Academy 47 — At SLAM Academy, O’Brien Pearce scored 21 points to lead the Lions by the Bulls.

Blake Box added nine points for Calvary Chapel, which led 26-15 at the half.

Jamaal Carr paced SLAM Academy with 21 points. C.J. Lumpkin added 12 points, and Noah Lee Delpozo scored 11 for the Bulls.
