ROUNDUP: Olekaibe, Cimarron advance to tourney title game
Kevin Olekaibe had 24 points and six assists Tuesday to lead Cimarron-Memorial to a 61-48 win over Burbank (Calif.) in the semifinals of the Bradshaw Mountain Holiday Classic in Prescott, Ariz.
Brayden Quackenbush added 12 points for the Spartans, who also got 11 points and 12 rebounds from Dale Puckett.
Cimarron-Memorial advanced to play Rincon (Ariz.) in the title game at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Cimarron-Memorial 39, Paradise Valley (Ariz.) 24 — Olekaibe scored 17 points in a quarterfinal win in the Bradshaw Mountain tournament.
Puckett added 11 points for the Spartans, who outscored Paradise Valley, 12-4 in the second quarter to take a 19-10 halftime lead.
Chadron (Neb.) 55, Bishop Gorman 44 — At the Energy Classic in Gillette, Wyo., Bishop Gorman came back from a 15-0 deficit to take a 29-27 halftime lead, but struggled down the stretch.
Anson Winder led the Gaels with 17 points. John Loyd added 10 points for Gorman.
Chadron closed the game on a 15-4 run.
Folsom (Calif.) 78, Liberty 57 — At the Torrey Pines Invitational in San Diego, Folsom used a 23-9 third quarter to take control in the championship game of the Senator’s Cup.
Kenneth Peters scored 18 points and Cameron Peters 16 for Liberty.
