ROUNDUP: Roquemore’s 25 points propel Foothill into Desert Heat title tilt

Evan Roquemore scored 25 points, pulled down five rebounds and dished out four assists Tuesday to lead Foothill’s boys basketball team to a 71-69 win over Martin Luther King (Calif.) in the Desert Heat Tournament in Palm Springs, Calif.
F.J. Funtila added 10 points and six rebounds for the Falcons, who overcame a 15-11 first-quarter deficit and advanced to Wednesday’s championship game.

Bishop Gorman 84, Nichols (N.Y.) 44 —
At Myrtle Beach, S.C., the Gaels sprinted to a 48-17 halftime lead en route to a rout of Nichols in the Beach Ball Classic.
Taylor Spencer and Johnathan Loyd scored 20 points apiece, while Ryan Hart added 18 and Anson Winder tallied 11.
Loyd also dished out six assists, and Alex Turner pulled down eight rebounds.
Canyon Springs 56, Red Mountain (Ariz.) 55 — At Mesa, Ariz., Chris Willis scored with eight seconds left in the second half to send the Pioneers past Red Mountain in the Vista Mesa Basketball Challenge.
Red Mountain missed a 3-pointer that would have won the game at the final buzzer.
Michael Thompson led Canyon Springs with 19 points and seven rebounds, and Jeremy Alexander added 10 points.
Cimarron-Memorial 58, Rincon (Ariz.) 43 — At Prescott, Ariz., Kevin Oleikabe scored 32 points as the Spartans rallied past Rincon in the Bradshaw Mountain Holiday Classic.
The Rangers outscored the Spartans 17-14 in the first eight minutes, but were held to only eight points in the second quarter to fall behind for the rest of the game.
Eric Brewer added 10 points for Cimarron.
Cimarron-Memorial 66, Perry (Ariz.) 57 — At Prescott, Ariz., the Spartans blitzed to a 15-9 first-quarter lead and cruised past the Pumas and into the championship game of the Bradshaw Mountain Holiday Classic.
Oleikabe poured in 37 points to lead all scorers, while Brewer added nine for Cimarron.
Desert Oasis 53, Bismarck (N.D.) 46 — At Gillette, Wyo., Cameron Jefferson had 14 points and 11 rebounds to help the Diamondbacks sink Bismarck in the Energy Classic.
Cameron Mich’l scored 14 points, and Anthony Lianzo had 11 for Desert Oasis.
Park City (Utah) 63, Virgin Valley 52 — At Cedar City, Utah, the Miners used an 18-10 fourth-quarter burst to put away the Bulldogs in the semifinals of the Steve Hodson Basketball Classic.
Cameron Jensen paced Virgin Valley with 23 points. Austin Cloes added 11 points for the Bulldogs.
 
Moapa Valley 63, Carbon (Utah) 58 — At Cedar City, Utah, Hayden Cooper scored 16 points, and the Pirates outscored Carbon 9-4 in overtime to pull out a win in the Steve Hodson Basketball Classic.
 
Zach Geary and James Frehner each added 13 points for the Pirates.
 
GIRLS
Palo Verde 43, Wooster 35 — At Reno, the Panthers blitzed to a 27-14 halftime lead and cruised past the Colts in the Bully’s Winter Classic.
Nicole Ameli led Palo Verde with 11 points.
Perry (Ariz.) 49, Liberty 41 — At Phoenix, the Patriots led 24-22 at halftime but couldn’t survive a late burst from Perry in the Tournament of Champions.
The Pumas outscored Liberty 20-9 in the fourth quarter.
 
Amanda Delgado led Liberty with 15 points.  Daynice Cochran added 10 points for the Patriots.
Los Alamitos (Calif.) 58, Sierra Vista 43 — At Anaheim, Calif., Los Alamitos jumped out to a 16-5 first-quarter lead and cruised past the Mountain Lions in the Savanna Rebels Classic.
Jeanette Jackson led Sierra Vista with 17 points.
 
White Pine 40, Pahranagat Valley 36 — At Ely, Alex Hall scored 18 points to lead the Bobcats past the Panthers.
Dakota Day scored 13 points and Alyssa Higbee 10 for Pahranagat Valley.
