ROUNDUP: Silverado tops Fremont American (Calif.) to win Pahrump boys basketball tournament

James Lata came off the bench to score 21 points on Saturday to lift the Silverado boys basketball team to a 61-55 win over Fremont American (Calif.) in the championship game of the Pahrump Valley Cage Classic.

Lata was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Ali Sabra added 18 points and Wade Collie 15 for the Skyhawks, who went 5-0 in the tournament.

Sabra and Collie joined Lata on the All-Tournament team along with Beatty’s Anthony Regalado and Fremont’s Rabbie Mojaddidi and Saidomor Temor.

Silverado 94, Pahrump Valley 38 — At Pahrump, Collie had 23 points as the Skyhawks rolled into the championship game.

Sabra and Josh Hyun each added 12 points, and Lata scored 11 for Silverado.

Tyler True scored 10 points to lead Pahrump.

Pahrump Valley 69, Beatty 53 — At Pahrump, the Trojans knocked off the Hornets for third place in the tournament.

Spring Mountain 75, Horizon Academy 34 — At Pahrump, the Golden Eagles rolled to a win in the fifth-place game.

Community Charter (Calif.) 66, Agassi Prep 54 — At Agassi Prep, the Stars fell behind 19-10 after one quarter and never recovered.

Tay Shepherd led Agassi with 22 points, and teammate DeShawn Battle scored 19.

Mountain View 50, Lowry JV 44 — At the Eureka Tournament, Justyn Anderson had 22 points and six steals to help the Saints hold off Lowry’s junior varsity.

Cortland LeBoeuf added 11 points for Mountain View, and teammate Karl Benjamin had 15 rebounds.

Mountain View 57, Eureka 47 — At the Eureka Tournament, Raymond Velarde drained three 3-pointers and finished with 22 points to help the Saints finish 3-0 in the tournament.

Anderson added 19 points and LeBoeuf 11.

Anderson, LeBoeuf and Benjamin were named to the all-tournament team.

Findlay Prep 93, Green Valley 33 — At Henderson International, Avery Bradley went 10-for-12 from the field en route to scoring 25 points for the Pilots, who bolted to a 29-9 lead after one quarter and never looked back.

Victor Rudd added 22 points, nine rebounds and seven steals for Findlay Prep.

Faith Lutheran 63, Douglas 47 — At Minden, Brett Lubbe and Chase Saunders each scored 14 points to help the Crusaders win the third-place game of the Douglas Tournament.

Taylor Jantz added 13 points for the Crusaders, who pulled away after leading 27-25 at the half.

John Anger scored 12 points for Faith Lutheran.
