ROUNDUP: Wildcats sneak past Pioneers in boys basketball

Tony Eackles had 16 points to lead five Las Vegas players in double figures as the Wildcats knocked off visiting Canyon Springs 78-75 on Friday.

Aamahd Franklin and Tyree Anderson each scored 12, and Demetrius Johnson and George Sanico had 11 points apiece for Las Vegas.

Adrian Snow led Canyon Springs with 21 points. Jeremy Alexander had 13 points and Michael Thompson and Chris Willis each scored 12 for the Pioneers.

Coronado 75, Green Valley 65 — At Coronado, Austin Nelson had 20 points and eight assists to help the Cougars rally from an early deficit to beat the Gators.

Charlie Wakefield had eight of his 19 points in the fourth quarter for Coronado, which went into the period tied with Green Valley at 47. He also finished with six rebounds.

Julian Franklin scored 14 points to lead the Gators, who led 19-12 at the end of the first quarter.

Desert Pines 77, Rancho 62 — At Rancho, Pierre Jackson scored 20 points to lead the Jaguars past the Rams.

Tyler Larson and Reggie Shaw each added 13 points for Desert Pines, which hit 9 of 10 3-pointers.

Fabian Dominguez had 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead Rancho.

Bishop Gorman 83, Desert Oasis 54 — At Bishop Gorman, Shabazz Muhammad  scored a game-high 20 points as the Gaels cruised past the Diamondbacks.

Anson Winder had 16 points, and John Loyd and Kylel Coleman each scored 14 for Gorman. Loyd had eight assists.

Cameron Mich’l had 12 points and Anthony Lianzo 11 for Desert Oasis.

Eldorado 60, Chaparral 33 — At Eldorado, Mitrell Clark had 17 points and six steals to help the Sundevils put away the Cowboys.

Eldorado outscored Chaparral, 34-15 in the second half.

Jerome Young led Chaparral with 10 points.

Spring Valley 45, Pahrump Valley 33 — At Spring Valley, the Grizzlies held the Trojans to single-digit scoring in two quarters and coasted to the win.

Jesse Chippoletti scored 15 points and Anton Stallworth 12 for Spring Valley.

Marvin Weekly led Pahrump with 11 points.

Western 63, Clark 48 — At Clark, Johnnie Diggs scored 15 points to help lift the Warriors over the Chargers.

De’Andre Nash added 13 points for Western, which pulled away after Clark tied the score at 42 early in the fourth quarter.

Clark’s Isidro Garcia led all scorers with 23 points.

Agassi Prep 100, West Wendover 90 — At West Wendover, DeShawn Battle had 29 points and 11 assists to help the Stars outlast the Wolverines.

Quincy Brown added 22 points for Agassi Prep, which also received 12 points from Chris Mitchell, 11 from Jacoby Whitehead and 10 from Dimitri Amos.

The Stars, who had 15 steals, grabbed a 49-33 halftime lead.

Brandon Hoston had five 3-pointers and 26 points for West Wendover. Drew Arrien added 18 points and Miles Bostock 17 for the Wolverines.

Faith Lutheran 61, Boulder City 53 — At Boulder City, Brett Lubbe had 18 points to lead the Crusaders over the Eagles.

John Anger added 10 points for Faith Lutheran, which outscored Boulder City 20-12 in the third quarter to take a 42-33 lead.

Jeremy Smith led Boulder City with 23 points.

Needles 79, Lincoln County 57 — At Panaca, Darra Russell had 20 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds to lead the Mustangs past the Lynx.

Stevie Kidd added 20 points and eight rebounds for the Needles. Michael Hills scored 15 and Anthony Ramos 12 for the Mustangs.

Dantley Walker led Lincoln County with 22 points, and teammate Eric Rippetoe scored 14.

Henderson International 64, Beatty 49 — At Beatty, Clay Tormey scored 27 points, and Henderson International overcame an early 16-8 deficit to beat the Hornets.

Danny Moerman added 17 points and Jay Sutorius 10 for the Wolverines.

Anthony Regalado led the Hornets with 16 points. Joe Serrano and Jacob Sumpter each scored 10 for Beatty.

Trinity 62, Indian Springs 40 — At Indian Springs, Budweiser Hawkins scored a game-high 26 points and the Thunder downed the Thunderbirds.

Gage Neuwohner and Avery Harden each scored 16 points for Trinity.

Junior Baker had 18 points, and Patrick McClain scored 10 for Indian Springs.

Lake Mead 74, Spring Mountain 38 — At Lake Mead, the Eagles took a 22-3 lead after one quarter and cruised to the win.

Jeffrey Newton led four Lake Mead players in double figures with 15 points. Alex Mayorga (14), Landon Littlefield (13) and Demetrius
Turner (10) also hit double-digits for Lake Mead. Josh Bratton added eight rebounds for the Eagles.

Spring Valley’s Davonte Sandifer led all scorers with 22 points.

Pahranagat Valley 49, Mountain View 41 — At Alamo, Brady Whipple had 25 points and eight rebounds to lead the Panthers over the Saints.

Pahranagat Valley outscored Mountain View 17-8 in the second quarter to take a 25-16 halftime advantage.

Cody Hoiser added 10 points for the Panthers.

Justyn Anderson led Mountain View with 24 points and five steals. Raymond Velarde scored 12 for the Saints.

Virgin Valley 59, Moapa Valley 47 — At Overton, Austin Cloes scored 14 of his 22 points in the first half to help Virgin Valley grab a 31-23 halftime lead en route to the win.

Terran Leavitt added 11 points for the Bulldogs.

Shaun Hilton led Moapa Valley with 17 points and nine rebounds. Max Jenkins scored 13.

The top four Class 5A boys basketball teams — Coronado, Liberty, Bishop Gorman and Arbor View — will play for the state title Thursday and Friday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
