Top players: G Terell Bowden (Sr.), C Marquise Evans (Sr.), G Enrique White (Sr.), G Kealyn Butler (Sr.), F Anthony Carter (Sr.), G Seraphin Decker (Jr.)

Outlook: The Mustangs finished in fifth place in the Northwest League last season, coming up a game short of the program's first postseason berth.

Much of that team's scoring is gone, but the Mustangs have nine seniors this season, including Bowden (6.0 points, 2.0 assists per game) and Evans (4.4 ppg, 4.0 rebounds per game).

"We have a strong senior class and are looking to make the playoffs for the first time," Nelson said.

The top four Class 5A boys basketball teams — Coronado, Liberty, Bishop Gorman and Arbor View — will play for the state title Thursday and Friday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
