Sierra Vista’s Maka Ellis chooses Columbia

Updated September 20, 2017 - 3:22 pm

Maka Ellis will play college basketball at Columbia.

Sierra Vista’s 6-foot-5 senior wing announced his commitment to the Lions and coach Jim Engles on Wednesday afternoon. His commitment is nonbinding and will not be official until he signs a national letter of intent.

The first signing period starts on Nov. 8.

Ellis averaged 25 points per game for the Mountain Lions last season and had a strong AAU season with Vegas Elite’s 17U team alongside local standouts Trey Woodbury and Jamal Bey.
