Silverado boys forfeit win over Liberty

Silverado's boys basketball team was forced to forfeit its win over Liberty on Friday.

The Skyhawks were 60-56 winners over the Patriots, but during the game Silverado players left their bench to join in an altercation on the floor.

Southern Nevada Officials Association commissioner Marc Ratner and Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association assistant director Jay Beesemyer reviewed video and reports of the game and ruled the incident to be bench-clearing on the part of Silverado.

As a result, the five players who left the bench also were suspended for the Skyhawks' next game, which is scheduled for Thursday at Valley.

Silverado remains in first place in the Northeast League at 3-1, one-half game ahead of both Canyon Springs and Liberty.
