Vegas Invitational: Antonio Fortin catches fire, lifts Pahrump Valley to victory

Antonio Fortin led all scorers with 29 points to lead Pahrump Valley’s boys basketball team to an 88-57 victory over Word of Life in the Vegas Invitational at Mountain View on Tuesday.

The senior guard, who finished with five 3-pointers, scored 16 points in the second half to help the Trojans pull away.

Brayden Severt added 21 points, and Cory Bergan scored eight for the Trojans, who outscored Word of Life 33-9 in the third quarter to build on their 32-28 halftime lead.

Jared House paced Word of Life with 24 points. Isaac Lopez had 21 points, and Cheikou Kouyate had nine points for the Eagles.

Mountain View 64, Sky Pointe 61 — Terrence Brooks scored 20 of his game-high 34 points in the first half to lead the Saints past the Eagles.

Tyrell Brooks added 17 points for Mountain View, which led 39-26 at halftime.

Nijel Murray led Sky Pointe with 22 points.

Bonanza 70, Adelson School 63 — Chase Hafen poured in 24 points, and Derek Davis scored nine to help the Bengals rout the Lions.

Trent Savage and Kendell Burrell each added eight points for Bonanza, which led 61-49 after three quarters.

Ben Elharrar had 27 points for Adelson School.

Tech 56, The Meadows 46 — Jurelle Orbino led three double-figure scorers with 19 points in the Roadrunners’ victory over the Mustangs.

Manny Board had 11 points, and Durand Farr scored 10 for Tech.

Allen Fridman had 24 points for The Meadows.

Chadwick School (Calif.) 59, Sky Pointe 33 — Treveonne Swift scored 13 points in the Eagles’ loss to the Dolphins.

Danny Cox and Preston Davis each had six points for Sky Pointe.

Duke Lindsey led a balanced attack with 13 points fro Chadwick School.

Buckley (Calif.) 65, Spring Mountain 41 — Michael Johnson scored 20 points in the Golden Eagles’ loss to the Griffins.

Shawn Shumpert added nine points for Spring Mountain, which fell behind 33-17 at halftime.

Kanoa Johnson scored 29 points to lead Buckley.
