Vegas Invitational: Bonanza drops semifinal game in overtime

Elihu Cobb and Michael Ramirez each scored 20 points Thursday to help the St. Joseph (California) boys basketball team hold off Bonanza, 76-74 in overtime in the semifinals of the Vegas Invitational at Mountain View.

Bonanza held a 38-32 lead at the half, but St. Joseph battled back to force the extra period.

Angel Ortiz added 15 points for the Knights.

Chase Hafen led the Bengals with 29 points, including a 12-for-12 effort from the free-throw line. Derek Davis added 22 points, and Kendell Burrell scored 11 for Bonanza, which was 24 of 27 from the free-throw line in the game.

Adelson School 65, Sky Pointe 35 — Miles Hagan pumped in 21 points as the Lions ran away from the Eagles.

Alex Sefia added 17 points for Adelson School, which led 21-7 after one quarter.

Ore Inbar chipped in 11 points, and Zach Fiumara scored 10 for the Lions.

Treveonne Smith led Sky Pointe with 18 points.

Pahrump Valley 59, Tech 35 — Antonio Fortin scored 16 points to help the Trojans defeat the Roadrunners.

Brayden Severt added 15 points for Pahrump, which led 17-4 after the first quarter.

Jurelle Orbino and Dylan Sanglay each had nine points to lead Tech.

Spring Mountain 70, The Meadows 34 — Damariyae Royal scored 25 points, and the Golden Eagles routed the Mustangs.

Michael Johnson added 14 points for Spring Mountain, which led 40-16 at the half.

Brenden Parker paced The Meadows with nine points.

Granite Hills (Calif.) 69, Mountain View 56 — Moses Smith scored 29 points, and the Eagles took advantage of an early 18-8 run to down the Saints.

Austin Ballo and McKay Roberts each added 13 points for Granite Hills, which led 33-21 at the half.

Tyrell Brooks led Mountain View with 31 points, and teammate Terrence Brooks scored 11.

Army-Navy Academy (Calif.) 74, Word of Life 47 — J.C. Canahuate scored 31 points to lead the Warriors by the Eagles.

Albert Pirchardo added 19 points for Army-Navy, which raced to a 45-28 halftime lead.

Isaac Lopez led Word of Life with 16 points, and teammate Cheikou Koyate scored 10.

The top four Class 5A boys basketball teams — Coronado, Liberty, Bishop Gorman and Arbor View — will play for the state title Thursday and Friday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
