Delgado takes Gatorade girls award

Liberty senior guard Amanda Delgado has been named the Gatorade Nevada Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

Delgado averaged 16.1 points, 3.8 assists and 2.3 steals this season in leading the Patriots to the Class 4A state title game.

The Oregon signee shot 81 percent from the foul line this season and was named Southeast League Most Valuable Player.

She scored 16 points, including 14 in the second half, as the Patriots (27-3) rallied for a 58-53 win over Bishop Gorman in the state semifinals. She also scored 16 points in Liberty’s 71-65 overtime loss to Centennial in the championship game.
