Durango’s Bell earns Gatorade honor

Durango senior guard Mia Bell has been named the Gatorade Nevada Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

Bell, who has signed to play at UNLV next season, averaged 26.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists and four steals per game as she helped the Trailblazers to a 23-10 overall record and third place in the Southwest League.

Bell set a school record when she scored 52 points in a game against Clark on Feb. 4.

She is now eligible for the national player of the year award, which will be announced later this month.
