GIRLS BASKETBALL: Brown’s big third quarter leads Wolves past Sundevils

Jayla Brown had 21 points and 16 rebounds Thursday to help Basic’s girls basketball team overcome a one-point halftime deficit and top visiting Eldorado, 56-44.
Brown had 14 points in the third quarter when Basic outscored Eldorado, 23-9. Dana Deloney added 17 points for the Wolves, who trailed 22-21 at the break.
DeNisheun Jackson paced the Sundevils with 13 points, and teammate Deasia Walker finished with 12 points.
Durango 48, Shadow Ridge 31 — At Durango, Jazmin Chavez had 23 points, 12 steals and eight rebounds to lead the Trailblazers to victory over the Mustangs.
Aylin Ponce added seven points and nine rebounds for Durango, which used a 22-6 fourth-quarter burst to pull away.
Jaylan Johnson scored nine points to lead Shadow Ridge.
Palo Verde 57, Sierra Vista 31 — At Sierra Vista, Paulina Silcox had 20 points, and Brooklyn Cruz scored 15 as the Panthers downed the Mountain Lions.
Nallah Thomas-McDade had 12 points for Palo Verde, which led 23-14 at the half.
Kennedy Nieves and Danielle Morrow each had seven points to lead Sierra Vista.
Rancho 55, Las Vegas 42 — At Las Vegas, LaKissa Martin scored 14 points to lead the Rams past the Wildcats.
Maureen Macato added 11 points for Rancho.
Shaleea Butler had 26 points and five steals for Las Vegas.
Canyon Springs 58, Silverado 35 — At Silverado, Alexia Thrower scored 20 points to lead the Pioneers by the Skyhawks.
Cherise Beynon added 14 points for the Pioneers, who led 35-19 at the half.
Monet Salazar paced Silverado with 13 points.
Green Valley 46, Valley 39 — At Valley, Maggie Manwarren and Brooke Haney each had 12 points to lead the Gators by the Vikings.
Kennedy Wharton had 17 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks for the Vikings. Zhani Thomas had eight points and 13 rebounds, and Alaihya Williams added 10 rebounds for Valley.
Foothill 53, Del Sol 35 — At Del Sol, Kelsey McFarland scored 18 points to help the Falcons top the Dragons.
Gabby Doxtator added 15 points for Foothill, which led only 30-24 at the half.
Astrid Rodriguez had 12 points for Del Sol.
Arbor View 63, Spring Valley 21 — At Spring Valley, Janae Strode had 15 points, and the Aggies rolled past the Grizzlies.
Caroline Rivera added 14 points, and Ariona Gill scored 13 for Arbor View, which led 30-11 at the half.
Samantha Meredith finished with five points for Spring Valley.
