GIRLS BASKETBALL: Clark’s free throws send Longhorns past Panthers in OT

Aviona Clark went 5-for-6 from the free-throw line in overtime and scored 19 points Tuesday to help Legacy’s girls basketball team to a 63-56 home win over Palo Verde.

C’Aree Stevenson had 11 points and scored the game-tying basket with 11 seconds left, and Otilia Price supplied 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Longhorns.

Paulina Silcox scored 27 points, and teammate Alaysia Reed had 15 points for the Panthers, who didn’t score in the overtime.

Clark 46, Mojave 44 — At Clark, Bobbi Floyd had 21 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots and hit the game-winning free throws with a minute left to help the Chargers nip the Rattlers.

Shyanne Carter-Wade added eight points and 13 rebounds for Clark, which rallied from a 17-10 first-quarter deficit with a 17-8 second-quarter run.

Charleea Armstrong led all scorers with 26 points for Mojave.

Spring Valley 67, Sierra Vista 23 — At Spring Valley, Kayla Harris had 20 points, 11 steals and seven assists to lead the Grizzlies by the Mountain Lions.

Jessica Rafay had 12 points, and Essence Booker added 10 points and seven steals for Spring Valley, which led 20-3 after one quarter.

Iymoni Burrell had seven points for Sierra Vista.

Bishop Gorman 64, Mainland (New Zealand) 55 — At Gorman, Raychel Stanley led four double-figure scorers with 21 points as the Gaels beat the Eagles.

Madison Washington had 14 points, Megan Jacobs scored 12 and Skylar Jackson added 10 points for Gorman, which jumped out to a 41-26 halftime lead.

Aleisha Ruske led Mainland with 19 points. Nicole Ruske scored 13, and Tessa Stewart-Morrison added 12 points for Mainland.

Canyon Springs 48, Rancho 41 — At Canyon Springs, Alexia Thrower scored 16 points, and Dre’una Edwards added 14 points as the Pioneers held off the Rams.

Daijhan Cooks supplied 10 points for Canyon Springs.

LaKissa Martin had 15 points, and Maureen Macato scored 11 for Rancho.

Desert Pines 47, Del Sol 28 — At Del Sol, See’Airrah Evans-Collins scored 21 points to lead the Jaguars to a win over the Dragons.

Jordan Bailey added 17 points for Desert Pines, which put the game away with a 17-3 fourth-quarter spurt.

Ana Ozuna and Alina Maruffo each scored six points for Del Sol.

Faith Lutheran 69, Western 55 — At Faith Lutheran, Haley Vinson scored 23 points, and Morgan Hill had 18 points to guide the Crusaders past the Warriors.

Kim Munro added 15 points for Faith Lutheran, which used a 23-8 first quarter run to pull away.

Destiny Gonzalez poured in 23 points, and Capricia Pierce had 21 points to lead Western.

Durango 39, Shadow Ridge 20 — At Durango, Jazmin Chavez had 15 points, six rebounds and seven steals to help the Trailblazers beat the Mustangs.

Brittany Romo supplied 12 points and seven steals for Durango, which trailed 6-4 after one quarter but outscored Shadow Ridge 16-3 in the second period.

Alexa Martins had five points for Shadow Ridge.

Cheyenne 37, Pahrump Valley 29 — At Pahrump, Alexcia Weatherly scored nine points, and Bria Buchanan added eight points as the Desert Shields held off the Trojans.

Jill Smith had 12 points, and Alyssa Murphy scored nine for Pahrump.

Chaparral 48, Tech 24 — At Tech, Taji Criss-Felton had 16 points to lead the Cowboys by the Roadrunners.

Jade Hazelton added 14 points for Chaparral, which led 45-4 at the half.

Amanda Stanton had 10 points for Tech.

Virgin Valley 41, Sunrise Mountain 31 — At Mesquite, Spencer Green had 14 points to lift the Bulldogs over the Miners.

Kourtney Metzger added 11 points and seven blocks for Virgin Valley, which outscored Sunrise Mountain 26-16 in the second half.

Tayaa Pratt had 11 points for Sunrise Mountain, and teammate Ayla Diaz scored 10 points.

Needles 47, Mountain View 35 — At Needles, Calif., Brenna Chavez had 22 points to lead the Mustangs by the Saints.

Kiley Murphy had 16 points, and Rose Adkins added 10 points for Mountain View.

The Meadows 48, Calvary Chapel 32 — At Calvary Chapel, Bailey Gosse had 16 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and three assists to help the Mustangs top the Lions.

Delaney Gosse recorded 13 points, nine steals, seven rebounds, six assists and five blocks for The Meadows.

Marissa Tiemann led Calvary Chapel with 10 points.

Agassi Prep 60, Laughlin 21 — At Laughlin, Javoulaee Green and Azaria Conway-Wilson each scored 16 points to power the Stars past the Cougars.

Green added six rebounds, and Conway-Wilson supplied six steals for Agassi Prep.

Beatty 36, Word of Life 16 — At Durango Hills YMCA, Denise Gonzalez led a balanced offense with nine points as the Hornets topped the Eagles.

Arieyanna Banks had 11 points for Word of Life.

Kayla Nelson led Laughlin with eight points.

Quest Academy 71, Sandy Valley 15 — At Heinrich YMCA, Brianna Osorio scored 19 of her 35 points in the first quarter as the Knights rolled the Sidewinders.

Osorio made five 3-pointers, and added 11 steals for Quest Academy. McKena Arlt, Michelle Gogue and Jenise McKnight each scored 10 points for the Knights, who led 50-4 at the half.

Lauren Cripe had seven points for Sandy Valley.

Parowan (Utah) 43, Pahranagat Valley 23 — At Alamo, Taylor Robb had 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Rams by the Panthers.

Jamie Hansen led Pahranagat Valley with 14 points.

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
