GIRLS BASKETBALL: Cooks gives Canyon Springs road victory over Palo Verde

Daijhan Cooks led four double-figure scorers with 16 points Tuesday as Canyon Springs’ girls basketball team posted a 62-50 win at Palo Verde.

Alexia Thrower had 14 points, and Cherise Benyon scored 13 for the Pioneers, who got 10 points from Trimece Thomas.

Paulina Silcox had 13 points, and Brooklyn Cruz scored 12 for the Panthers.

Liberty 36, Arbor View 10 — At Arbor View, Paris Strawther scored 17 points to help the Patriots cruise past the Aggies.

Kelsey Rasore and Dani Chaney scored three points apiece to lead Arbor View.

Coronado 57, Spring Valley 30 — At Coronado, Dejah Washington scored 15 points as the Cougars routed the Grizzlies.

Skylar Feldman recorded 10 points, and Samantha Green tallied eight points for Coronado.

Shania Davis led Spring Valley with eight points.

Durango 42, Cimarron-Memorial 34 — At Durango, Holly Dierschke led a balanced attack with 11 points as the Trailblazers topped the Spartans.

Shauntel Efferson paced Cimarron with 12 points.

Eldorado 56, Silverado 44 — At Silverado, DeNisheun Jackson scored 23 points to power the Sundevils to a win over the Skyhawks.

Deasia Walker provided 21 points for Eldorado, which sprinted to a 13-4 lead after one quarter.

Monet Salazar led Silverado with 17 points.

Bonanza 50, Desert Pines 31 — At Desert Pines, Tanganika Hunt scored 20 points to help the Bengals roll past the Jaguars.

Brooklyn Savage added 12 points for Bonanza, which led 29-14 at halftime.

Chrystian Myles led Desert Pines with 14 points.

Legacy 48, Basic 12 — At Basic, Markeshia Evans dropped in 12 points, and the Longhorns routed the Wolves.

Charleea Armstrong had 11 points, and Aviana Clark scored 10 for Legacy, which held Basic scoreless in the first quarter and led 22-6 at halftime.

Amanda Sanchez and Bailey Cunanan each scored four points for Basic.

Del Sol 48, Moapa Valley 38 — At Overton, Sayanna Roy scored 26 points to help the Dragons defeat the Pirates.

Azhwalaee Oliver added 11 points for Del Sol, which led 23-5 after one quarter.

Kyla Shumway led Moapa Valley with eight points.

Centennial 69, Shadow Ridge 22 — At Shadow Ridge, Teirra Hicks scored 13 points to lead the Bulldogs in a rout of the Mustangs.

Paige Barber added 11 points for Centennial, which led 45-13 at the half.

Western 33, Sunrise Mountain 27 — At Sunrise Mountain, Capricia Pierce scored 11 points to help the Warriors beat the Miners.

Brittany Veal scored seven points to lead Sunrise Mountain.

Virgin Valley 65, Pahranagat Valley 54 — At Alamo, Abbie Barnard scored 26 points to help the Bulldogs top the Panthers.

Spencer Green added 13 points, and Becca Bramlage scored six points and grabbed eight rebounds for Virgin Valley.

Kimberly Lewis had 11 points and 17 rebounds for Pahranagat Valley. Traci Strong had 16 points, and Kalli Hosier had 12 points for the Panthers, who got 11 points from Bailee Hosier.

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
