GIRLS BASKETBALL: Hawkins lifts Cowboys past Grizzlies in OT

Marcia Hawkins nailed a five-foot floater with seven seconds left in overtime Friday to lift Chaparral’s girls basketball team to a 52-51 win at Spring Valley.

Hawkins finished with 21 points to lead the Cowboys, who scored on a late Spring Valley turnover to send the game into overtime. Teammate Rosa Richardson added 16 points.

Myra Tadytin led the Grizzlies with 14 points, and teammate Izzy Anderson scored 10.

Boulder City 48, Faith Lutheran 46 — At Boulder City, Alyssa Ybarra scored 14 points as the Eagles outlasted the Crusaders in overtime.

Jana Williams’ 3-pointer with eight seconds left in the fourth quarter allowed Boulder City to tie the game at 39-39, and the Crusaders missed two free throws to send the game to overtime.

Whitney Barlow added 11 points for Boulder City.

Morgan Hill had 16 points, and Dani Tharaldson scored 13 points for Faith Lutheran.

Canyon Springs 85, Clark 26 — At Canyon Springs, Alexia Thrower had 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Pioneers by the Chargers.

Thrower went 10-for-10 from the field and made all four of her free-throw attempts.

LaKiya Yarber had 20 points and six steals, and Cherise Beynon added 16 points, eight assists and four steals for Canyon Springs, which got eight points and 10 rebounds from Daijhan Cooks.

Bobbi Floyd led Clark with 16 points.

Liberty 56, Skyline (Utah) 51 —At Bishop Gorman, Paris Strawther had 13 points and seven rebounds to lead the Patriots over the Eagles.

Kealy Brown and Natalia Pitt scored 11 points apiece for Liberty, which held a 24-19 halftime lead. Brown also hit two clutch free throws to ice the game.

Mia Mortensen had 13 points, and Olivia Elliss added 12 points for Skyline, which got 11 points from Hillary Weixler.

Clovis West (Calif.) 47, Bishop Gorman 38 — At Gorman, Portia Neale had 16 points, and the Golden Eagles used a 13-4 third-quarter spurt to top the Gaels in the Las Vegas Invitational.

Emily Anderson hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points for Clovis West.

Maddison Washington had 11 points, and Raychel Stanley scored 10 for Gorman.

Hanford (Calif.) 63, Foothill 52 — At Bishop Gorman, Brooke Johnson poured in 26 points, and Hanford outscored the Falcons 25-14 in the third quarter to seal the win at the Las Vegas Invitational.

Janelle Sumilong added 11 points for Hanford.

Taylor Turney had 16 points, and Kesley McFarland added 14 points for Foothill.

Basic 48, Silverado 32 — At Silverado, Jayla Brown scored 20 points to lead the Wolves past the Skyhawks.

Dana Deloney added 12 points for Basic, which led 27-10 at halftime.

Monet Salazar scored 17 points to lead Silverado.

Centennial 73, Arbor View 45 — At Arbor View, Karina Brandon poured in 20 points, and the Bulldogs used a 24-5 third-quarter run to pull away from the Aggies.

Teirra Hicks had 16 points, and Simone Barber scored 11 for Centennial, which got 10 points from Tramina Jordan.

Ariona Gill led Arbor View with 15 points.

Sunrise Mountain 36, Rancho 32 — At Rancho, Tierrah Lee led a balanced attack with eight points as the Miners held off the Rams.

Deanna Manning and Jasmyn Rodriguez each had six points for Sunrise Mountain, which led 22-14 after three quarters.

Miyah Wilson led Rancho with nine points and nine rebounds.

Palo Verde 54, Cimarron-Memorial 32 — At Palo Verde, Brooklyn Cruz scored 12 points to lift the Panthers over the Spartans.

Paulina Silcox added 11 points for Palo Verde, which led 29-11 at halftime.

Niara Smith had 13 points for Cimarron.

Green Valley 68, Del Sol 35 — At Green Valley, Maggie Manwarren scored 19 points to help the Gators cruise past the Dragons.

Rianna Rudolph added 15 points for Green Valley, and teammate Gracelle Garcia scored 11 points.

Sayanna Roy led Del Sol with 12 points.

Durango 55, Mojave 27 — At Durango, Jazmin Chavez scored 16 points to help the Trailblazers roll by the Rattlers.

Holly Dierschke scored 12 points, and Brittany Romo added 11 points for Durango, which led 27-7 at halftime.

Rayena Rael led Mojave with 14 points.

Western 42, North Valleys 31 — At Western, Destiny Gonzalez scored eight of her 18 points in the second quarter to help the Warriors build a 27-20 halftime lead and down the Panthers.

Capricia Pierce added 11 points for Western.

Elaine Johnson led North Valleys with 16 points.
