GIRLS BASKETBALL: Jackson, Walker rally Sundevils in second half

DeNisheun Jackson scored 17 of her 24 points in the second half Friday to lead Eldorado’s girls basketball team to a 52-49 win at Del Sol.

Deasia Walker had 11 of her 13 points in the second half for the Sundevils, who trailed 22-15 at halftime.

Sayanna Roy paced the Dragons with 24 points.

Liberty 55, Foothill 48 — At Liberty, Paris Strawther had 11 points and 10 rebounds to help the Patriots hold off the Falcons.

Kaily Kaimikaua had 12 points, and Kealy Brown added 10 points and five steals for Liberty, which led 32-13 at halftime.

Taylor Turney had 22 points, and Kelsey McFarland added 13 points for Foothill.

Canyon Springs 73, Green Valley 67 — At Green Valley, Alexia Thrower scored 36 points to help the Pioneers edge the Gators.

Cherise Beynon added 15 points for Canyon Springs, which used a late 10-0 scoring run to pull away.

Rianna Rudolph led Green Valley with 22 points. Maggie Manwarren and Gracelle Garcia each added 14 points, and Brooke Haney scored 10 for the Gators.

Rancho 48, Silverado 34 — At Silverado, Darje Martin and LaKissa Martin had 10 points apiece to lift the Rams over the Skyhawks.

Jessica Chamberlain led Silverado with 17 points.

Valley 68, Las Vegas 38 — At Valley, Kennedy Wharton scored 24 of her 31 points in the first half and had six steals and five blocks to help the Vikings roll past the Wildcats.

Gabrielle Cabanero added 12 points, and Zhani Thomas had eight points and nine rebounds for Valley.

Shaleea Butler led Las Vegas with 23 points.

Coronado 60, Basic 32 — At Coronado, Dajah Washington had 16 points to lead the Cougars by the Wolves.

Grace Green added 11 points for Coronado, which used a 26-5 third-quarter run to pull away.

Jayla Brown led Basic with 10 points.

Arbor View 67, Sierra Vista 29 — At Sierra Vista, Ariona Gill scored 15 points to help the Aggies rout the Mountain Lions.

Janae Strode added 14 points for Arbor View.

Kelsey Jimenez led Sierra Vista with nine points.

Palo Verde 70, Shadow Ridge 42 — At Shadow Ridge, Paulina Silcox scored 13 points as the Panthers downed the Mustangs.

Alyssa Siqueiros and Marcie Goldberg each added 11 points, and Nallah Thomas-McDade and Brooklyn Cruz each scored 10 points for Palo Verde.

Malin Groeterude led Shadow Ridge with nine points.

The Meadows 53, Lake Mead 30 — At The Meadows, Melaney Mayes scored six of her 10 points during an 18-0 first-quarter run that sent the Mustangs by the Eagles.

Kaiya Massey also scored 10 points for The Meadows, which led 30-6 at halftime.

Savannah Schmidt led Lake Mead with 16 points.

Calvary Chapel 53, Agassi Prep 40 — At Agassi Prep, Phallen Nelson led all scorers with 20 points to help the Lions to a victory over the Stars.

Lianne Reyes had 18 points for Calvary Chapel, which led 28-15 at halftime.

Jada Smith paced the Stars with 10 points.

Pahranagat Valley 61, Tonopah 25 — At Alamo, Kalli Hosier poured in 20 points as the Panthers ran away from the Muckers.

Traci Strong scored 16 of her 18 points in the first half, helping the Panthers to a 43-11 halftime lead.

Julia Klapper led the Muckers with 11 points.

Indian Springs 44, Word of Life 19 — At Indian Springs, Baylee McCormick had 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Thunderbirds past the Eagles.

Hannah Thormahlen added 11 points, seven assists and six steals for Indian Springs, which took control in the second quarter.

Cherish Green led Word of Life with eight points.

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
