GIRLS BASKETBALL: Nish’s late free throws give Mustangs win over Spartans

Aubree Nish made 7 of 8 free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter Friday to help Shadow Ridge’s girls basketball team to a 47-44 win at Cimarron-Memorial.

Nish, who finished with 15 points, sealed the win with two free throws in the final minute. Teammate Kaila Hurley added 13 points for the Mustangs.

Shauntel Efferson scored 15 points to lead the Spartans.

Bonanza 38, Western 35 — At Bonanza, Chardonnay Martin-Roberson had 13 points, five rebounds, six blocks and five steals to lead the Bengals past the Warriors.

Tanganika Hunt led all scorers with 15 points for Bonanza.

Destiny Gonzalez had 10 points for Western.

Cheyenne 55, Las Vegas 29 — At Las Vegas, Bria Buchanan pumped in 20 points, and the Desert Shields sprinted to a 34-18 halftime lead on their way to a win over the Wildcats.

Shaleea Butler had 14 points for Las Vegas.

Legacy 50, Sunrise Mountain 27 — At Sunrise Mountain, Carolina Rahkonen scored 29 points to help the Longhorns cruise past the Miners.

Charleea Armstrong added six points for Legacy, which trailed 10-4 after the first quarter.

Brittany Veal led Sunrise Mountain with 10 points.

Canyon Springs 75, Eldorado 32 — At Eldorado, Alexia Thrower racked up 22 points, 15 rebounds and five steals as the Pioneers ran away from the Sundevils.

Daijhan Cooks added 15 points and nine rebounds, and Cherise Beynon had 11 points, eight assists and four rebounds for Canyon Springs, which used a 25-1 run in the second quarter to grab a 53-13 halftime lead.

DeNisheun Jackson had 16 points for Eldorado.

Faith Lutheran 56, Wooster 20 — At Reno, Morgan Hill and Alex Wright each scored six points during a 17-1 second-quarter run that propelled the Crusaders by the Colts in the High Sierra Tournament.

Hill finished with 16 points, and Wright scored 10 for Faith Lutheran.

Carson 51, Faith Lutheran 48 — At Reno, Savannah Smith poured in 23 points as the Senators rallied by the Crusaders in the High Sierra Tournament.

Dani Tharaldson had 19 points, and Hill scored 10 for Faith Lutheran.

Pahranagat Valley 47, Chaparral 33 — At Chaparral, Jamie Hansen had 14 points as the Panthers topped the Cowboys.

Kimberly Lewis added 13 points for Pahranagat Valley.

Marcia Hawkins led Chaparral with 18 points.

Mohave (Ariz.) 44, The Meadows 34 — At Bullhead City, Ariz., the Mustangs fell in their opening game of the River Valley Invitational.

Bailey Gosse had 10 points for The Meadows.

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
