GIRLS BASKETBALL: Pierce’s heroics send Warriors by Trojans

Capricia Pierce hit two free throws with 1.6 seconds to play on Thursday to lift Western’s girls basketball team to a 43-42 home win over Pahrump Valley.
Pierce had 25 points, including all nine of Western’s points in the fourth quarter.
Her layup with 1:07 to go gave the Warriors a 41-40 lead.
But the Trojans took a 42-41 advantage on a bucket by Alyssa Murphy with eight seconds left.
Pierce was 6-for-6 from the free-throw line for Western, which got nine points from Lanisha Walker.
Murphy had 15 points for Pahrump.
Moapa Valley 43, Del Sol 36 — At Overton, the Pirates outscored the Dragons 7-0 in overtime to get the win.
Makayla Jackson had 13 points to lead Moapa Valley, which led by eight in the fourth quarter before Del Sol rallied to force overtime.
Matilda Thompson added 10 points for the Pirates.
Del Sol’s Astrid Rodriguez led all scorers with 19 points.
Clark 51, Sierra Vista 45 — At Sierra Vista, Bobbi Floyd scored 31 points as the Chargers rallied past the Mountain Lions.
The Chargers outscored the Lions 16-4 in the fourth quarter for the victory.
Karlicia Stroughter added 13 points for the Chargers.
Kelsey Jiminez scored 12 points to lead the Lions, and teammate Iymoni Burrell added 11 points.
Faith Lutheran 49, Cheyenne 41 — At Cheyenne, Morgan Hill scored 20 points to lead the Crusaders past the Desert Shields.
Haley Vinson had 13 points for Faith Lutheran, which made five 3-pointers.
Bria Buchanan had 20 points and 20 rebounds to lead Cheyenne, which got 16 points from Alexcia Weatherly.
Spring Valley 57, Mojave 47 — At Mojave, Essence Booker scored 21 points as the Grizzlies defeated the Rattlers.
Kayla Harris added 14 points for Spring Valley, which held a 23-12 halftime lead.
Charleea Armstrong scored 18 points, and RayEna Rael added nine points for Mojave.
Legacy 38, Shadow Ridge 35 — At Shadow Ridge, TaEha Pankey led a balanced attack with 10 points as the Longhorns edged the Mustangs.
Taylor Smith had nine points for Legacy, which led 26-20 after three quarters.
Assana King had 15 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks for Shadow Ridge, which was 12-for-29 from the free-throw line.
Boulder City 64, Desert Pines 48 — At Desert Pines, Megan Morton and Katlyn Daly each scored 15 points to power the Eagles past the Jaguars.
Alyssa Ybarra added 12 points for Boulder City, which outscored Desert Pines 36-16 over the middle quarters.
Jordan Bailey scored 19 points to lead the Jaguars, who got eight points and 17 rebounds from See’Airrah Evans-Collins.
Chaparral 54, Virgin Valley 39 — At Virgin Valley, Taij Criss-Felton scored 19 points to guide the Cowboys to victory over the Bulldogs.
Marcia Hawkins had 13 points, and Alexis Vanstory scored 10 for Chaparral.
Kourtney Metzger scored 10 points to lead Virgin Valley.
Sunrise Mountain 58, Tech 19 — At Sunrise Mountain, Ayla Diaz finished with 16 points and seven steals, and Shayne Siegel added 11 points as the Miners routed the Roadrunners.
Tayaa Pratt had 10 points, and Nina Carpenter had six points, 10 rebounds, three steals and four blocked shots for Sunrise Mountain, which opened the game on a 23-2 run. Teammate Tyrah Lee recorded seven blocks.
Leslie Williams led Tech with six points.
Bishop Gorman 63, Palo Verde 16 — At Palo Verde, Raychel Stanley scored 15 points, and the Gaels started the game on a 22-2 run en route to the easy win.
Skylar Jackson added 13 points, Madison Washington had 11 points and Megan Jacobs scored 10 for the Gaels, who led 38-9 at the half.
Marcie Goldberg scored five to lead the Panthers.
Lund 39, Adelson School 30 — At Adelson, the Mustangs held off the Lions.
Shoshana Wexler had 12 points, and Mackenzie Lally scored 10 to lead Adelson.
