GIRLS BASKETBALL: Samantha Thomas hits game-winning 3-pointer for Centennial

Samantha Thomas hit a 3-pointer with eight seconds to play Saturday to give Centennial’s girls basketball team a 68-65 win over St. Mary’s (California) in Stockton, California.

Justice Ethridge led four Centennial players in double figures with 13 points. Thomas added 12 points, Eboni Walker had 11 points and Jayden Eggleston scored 10 for the Bulldogs.

Pam Wilmore added 14 rebounds for Centennial, which is ranked fourth in the nation by USA Today.

St. Mary’s is ranked 19th.

Coronado 47, St. Genevieve (Calif.) 34 — At Panorama City, California, Payton Caci had 13 points, five rebounds and three steals as the Cougars beat the Valiants.

Haley Tyrell added 11 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals, and teammate Talia Sapp scored 10 for Coronado, which led 16-3 after one quarter.

Polina Koraleva led St. Genevieve with nine points.

Serra-Gardena (Calif.) 80, Spring Valley 52 — At Panorama City, California, the Cavaliers outscored the Grizzlies 20-2 in the second quarter and rolled to the win.

Essence Booker scored 30 points to lead Spring Valley.

Faith Lutheran 68, Clark 27 — At Faith Lutheran, Madison Bocobo scored 14 points as the Crusaders rolled past the Chargers.

Maddy Larson added 11 points, and Bryanna Neagle scored nine for Faith Lutheran, which led 23-5 after one quarter and opened the second half with an 18-3 run.

Julie Reid led Clark with nine points.

Valley 47, Tech 32 — At Valley, Jeuzel Pollins had 18 points and six assists to lead the Vikings to victory over the Roadrunners.

Kiara Brown added eight points for Valley, which held Tech to 12 second-half points.

Patrice Thomas and Melissa Fuller each scored eight for the Roadrunners.

The Meadows 27, Mountain View 24 — At The Meadows, Marcella Peek had 10 points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocked shots as the Mustangs rallied to top the Saints.

Tahsin Najmi also scored 10 points for The Meadows, which outscored Mountain View 6-0 in the fourth quarter to claim the win.

Tayah De’Bouck and Nia Van Kempen each had nine points to lead the Saints.

Virgin Valley 57, Lincoln County 27 — At Panaca, Briana Todd had 17 points as the Bulldogs routed the Lynx.

Emma Barnum added nine points for Virgin Valley, which led 19-8 after the first quarter.

Brynlee Wadsworth led Lincoln County with 14 points.
