GIRLS BASKETBALL: Taylor Barnum’s basket gives Virgin Valley win over Moapa Valley

Taylor Barnum’s layup at the buzzer gave Virgin Valley’s girls basketball team a 40-39 road win over Moapa Valley on Friday.

Moapa Valley led 39-38 with seven seconds left, but the Bulldogs forced a turnover on an inbounds pass leading to Barnum’s winning basket.

Emma Barnum and Brianna Todd each had 11 points to lead Virgin Valley. Taylor Barnum finished with eight points.

Kinlee Marshall and Matilda Thompson scored nine points apiece for the Pirates, who led 32-26 heading into the fourth quarter.

Needles 46, Lincoln County 45 — At Lincoln County, Jayne Antone scored the winning basket in the final seconds to give the Mustangs the victory over the Lynx.

Antone finished with 11 points.

Needles’ Preslee Murch led all scorers with 17 points.

Kailey Kelley led Lincoln County with 14 points.

Legacy 52, Palo Verde 32 — At Palo Verde, Taeha Pankey led all scorers with 16 points, as the Longhorns defeated the Panthers.

Legacy’s Maiah Yearwood added 15 points.

Ariana Davis led Palo Verde with 13 points.

Cimarron-Memorial 70, Silverado 53 — At Silverado, Niara Smith led all scorers with 23 points, as the Spartans defeated the Skyhawks.

Cimarron’s Amoura Whitney added 15 points, and teammate Tasia Moore scored 12.

Sidni Wise-Wright led Silverado with 17 points. Jasmine Waugh scored 14 points, and Kimberlyn Tanner added 13 points for the Skyhawks.

Sierra Vista 61, Tech 37 — At Sierra Vista, Shania Harper scored 21 points as the Mountain Lions rolled past the Roadrunners.

Iymoni Burrell had 12 points, and teammate Emonnie Jackson scored 11 for Sierra Vista, which led 21-6 after one quarter.

Tayler Muwwakkil scored 13 to lead Tech.

Mountain View 28, Laughlin 23 — At Mountain View, Tayah De’Bouck had 17 points to lead the Saints past the Cougars.

Teresa Chapa led Laughlin with 10 points.

Agassi Prep 74, The Meadows 15 — At The Meadows, Sharmayne Finley had 19 points, as the Stars defeated the Mustangs.

Lovely Glinton and Denise Parker each scored 15 points for Agassi Prep, which led 32-2 after one quarter.

Korinne Oder led The Meadows with five points.

Calvary Chapel 38, Lake Mead 32 — At Lake Mead, Malia Lee had 14 points as the Lions topped the Eagles.

Nerel Martin added nine points for Calvary Chapel, which outscored Lake Mead 13-8 in the fourth quarter.

Aaliyah Perkins led the Eagles with 11 points.

Beaver Dam 55, Indian Springs 22 — At Littlefield, Arizona, Jailene Hernandez scored 19 points to lead the Diamondbacks past the Thunderbirds.

Danielle Garlick had 16 points for Beaver Dam, which led 25-9 at halftime.

Mercedes Heath scored nine points for Indian Springs.

Round Mountain 45, Sandy Valley 15 — At Sandy Valley, the Knights defeated the Sidewinders.
