GIRLS BASKETBALL: Thrower guides Pioneers past Rancho in overtime

Alexia Thrower scored nine of her 21 points in overtime to lead Canyon Springs' girls basketball team to a 59-52 road win over Rancho on Monday.

Dayonna Maddox and D'Licya Feaster each scored 11 points for the Pioneers.

Rancho's Tatianna Lee made a late free throw to tie the game at 44 and force overtime. She led the Rams with 19 points, and teammate Maureen Macato scored 16.

Bonanza 41, Pahrump Valley 32 — At Pahrump, Jazzmon Ferguson and Maysan Raleigh each scored 11 points as the Bengals defeated the Trojans.

The Bengals, who held the Trojans to six field goals, outscored Pahrump 14-6 in the fourth quarter to take control of the game.

Andi Bishop scored 13 points to lead the Trojans, who were 18-for-26 from the free-throw line.

Basic 52, Tech 33 — At Basic, Happy Butler scored 11 points to lead the Wolves over the Roadrunners.

Amanda Sanchez scored nine points for Basic.

Leslie Williams led Tech with 12 points.

Cimarron-Memorial 51, Del Sol 9 — At Del Sol, Niara Smith scored 29 points as the Spartans routed the Dragons.

Tasia Moore added seven points for Cimarron, which outscored Del Sol 20-0 in the fourth quarter.

Jessica Ayala scored four points to lead the Dragons.

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
