ROUNDUP: Ajaj’s free throw sends Sierra Vista girls past Mustangs

Enas Ajaj nailed the second of two free throws with 3.9 seconds remaining Wednesday to lift Sierra Vista’s girls basketball team to a 44-43 home win over Shadow Ridge.
Ajaj finished with eight points, and grabbed a steal to thwart Shadow Ridge’s final effort after the go-ahead free-throw.
Kennedy Nieves scored nine points to lead Sierra Vista, which got eight points apiece fropm Kelsey Jimenez and Melia Tadytin.
Viana Perez and Brandii Starks each registered 15 points to lead the Mustangs.
Arbor View 43, Durango 27 — At Durango, Jocelyn Jordan, Janae Strode, and Dana Lewis each scored 10 points to help the Aggies down the Trailblazers.
Jazmine Chavez led Durango with seven points.
Valley 53, Rancho 50 — At Valley, Kennedy Wharton poured in 26 points, and Gabby Cabanero added 14 points as the Vikings held off a late charge and beat the Rams.
Cabanero made 12 of 14 free throws, and Wharton sank 11 of 14 from the line. Taylor Payne added 11 rebounds for Valley.
Lakissa Martin scored 15 points for Rancho, which also got 13 points from Tatianna Lee.
Green Valley 67, Silverado 48 — At Silverado, Rianna Rudolph led a balanced attack with 12 points as the Gators topped the Skyhawks.
Maggie Manwarren and Gracelle Garcia each added 10 points for Green Valley, which had seven players score six or more points.
Jasmyn Garcia paced Silverado with 23 points, and teammate Brittany Loguidice scored 10.
Coronado 58, Eldorado 40 — At Coronado, Sofie Cruz scored 19 points to help the Cougars cruise past the Sundevils.
Ashley Johnson added 12 points for Coronado, which jumped out to a 22-7 first-quarter lead.
Desia Walker had 17 points, and Denisheun Jackson scored 15 points for Eldorado.
Liberty 50, Del Sol 22 — At Del Sol, Kealy Brown scored 14 points as the Patriots downed the Dragons.
Dayanni Cochran had nine points, and Paris Strawther added 13 rebounds for Liberty, which sprinted to a 44-2 halftime lead.
Brittany Collins paced Del Sol with 14 points.
Foothill 63, Basic 40 — At Basic, Anaya Rodisha scored 19 points as the Falcons picked up a win over the Wolves.
Mikayla Yeakel and Taylor Turney supplied 10 points each for Foothill, which led 29-19 at halftime.
Jayla Brown had 10 points for Basic.
