ROUNDUP: Arbor View posts first-ever girls basketball victory

Jena Valenzuela scored 15 points Thursday to help Arbor View’s girls basketball team collect the first on-court win in the program’s four-year history, a 50-20 home victory over Clark.

The Aggies, who didn’t win a game in either of their first two seasons, collected a win by forfeit last year after the opposing team used an ineligible player.

Arbor View took a 32-12 halftime lead and put up a school record for points in a game.

Angelena Cook scored 15 points for Clark.

Eldorado 41, Mojave 31— At Eldorado, the Sundevils outscored the Rattlers 28-20 in the second half to earn the victory.

Gianna Lafayette paced Eldorado with 15 points and three steals. Princess Jervis grabbed 12 rebounds for the Sundevils.

Clarissa Cannon had 10 points and 15 rebounds for Mojave.

Bonanza 66, Shadow Ridge 41 — At Bonanza, Christin Figgins led a balanced attack with 13 points, and the Bengals used an 18-6 second-quarter run to put away the Mustangs.

Shirley Pitts scored 12 points and Daytril Beals 10 for Bonanza.

Elisha Hensey paced Shadow Ridge with 21 points. Cheyana Slocum added 10 points for the Mustangs.

Coronado 53, Rancho 45 — At Coronado, Stacy Rapp had 14 points and Courtney Whitaker 13 to lead the Cougars over the Rams.

Lindsay Decker scored 11 points and Alex Osmundson 10 for Coronado.

Rancho’s Khalia Branch scored a game-high 15 points. Shayna Porter-Banks had 14 points for the Rams.

Desert Pines 56, Cheyenne 41 — At Desert Pines, LaBrea Walker led Desert Pines with 21 points, 10 assists, and five steals as the Jaguars cruised past the Desert Shields.

Clarissa Davis added 14 points and 14 rebounds for Desert Pines.

Cheyenne’s Sabrina King had 16 points. 

Sierra Vista 58, North Valleys 35 — At Sierra Vista, Jeanette Jackson scored 12 points and Kim Rouzer 11 as the Lions beat the Panthers.

Sierra Vista went on a 18-9 run in the third and never looked back.

North Valleys' Shakia Walker scored 18 points.

Legacy 57, Tech 49 — At Tech, Kindrea Poole scored 16 points to lead the Longhorns over the Roadrunners.

Kendra Irving and Breanah Manley each scored 14 points for Legacy.

Tech’s Adriana Heredia scored a game-high 20 points.

Canyon Springs 34, Spring Valley 22 — At Canyon Springs, Skotasia Thomas had seven points to lead the Pioneers over the Grizzlies.

Liberty 78, Desert Oasis 37 — At Liberty, Destiny Whitehead had 24 points and had seven assists to power the Patriots past the Diamondbacks.

Amanda Delgado added 17 points for Liberty. Jade Washington had 13 points, eight assists and seven steals, Phoebe Baker 12 points and Daynice Cochran 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Patriots.

Alexus Caulk scored 15 points to lead Desert Oasis.

Valley 53, Western 21— At Valley, Vanessa Corona had 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists to help the Vikings roll past the Warriors.

The Vikings used a 22-5 third-quarter run to put away the game.

Damonte Ranch 54, Basic  51 — At Basic, the Mustangs had three players score in double digits and played tough defense down to nip the Wolves.

Basic had a chance to tie the game with four seconds left in regulation but didn’t get off a shot.

Erin Hatch scored 14 points and Macy Heins and Megan Frankel 12 each for Damonte Ranch.

Michaela Thomas had 19 points and six rebounds for Basic.

Elko 40, Faith Lutheran 28 — At Winnemucca, the Indians went on a 14-9 run in the third quarter on the way to the victory in the Lowry Tournament.

Ashley Green and Joi Goynes each scored five points for the Crusaders.

West Wendover 27, Elko JV 18 — At the Elko Tournament, Danika Sharp scored 21 points and had seven steals as West Wendover opened up an 11-9 halftime lead and pulled away in the second half.

The game was played in two 16-minute halves with the clock continuously running. Estella Botello added eight rebounds for the Wolverines.

In the Lake Mead Tournament at Calvary Chapel: 

Calvary Chapel 46, Lake Mead 24 — Sammie Mann scored a game-high 23 points, and the Lions outscored the Eagles 28-7 in the second half to pull away for the victory.

Emily Dean led Lake Mead with 10 points.

Moapa Valley 52, Trinity 14 — Jessica Waite scored 14 points, and the Pirates bolted to a 17-2 first-quarter lead en route to an easy win.

Shilo Parashonts added 11 points for the Pirates.

Virgin Valley 58, Indian Springs 22 — Madison Bowler and Rachel Morris each scored 15 points as the Bulldogs cruised to victory.

Tina Traster led the Thunderbirds with 11 points.

Calvary (Calif.) 53, Henderson International 9 — At Calvary Chapel, Rayelle Calvert scored a game-high 18 points as the Royal Knights easily defeated the Wolverines.

Lincoln County 70, Calvary Chapel 25 — Marissa Smerek scored 21 points to lead the Lynx to the easy win.

Maicah LeBaron added 11 points for Lincoln County.

Sammie Mann scored 17 points for the Lions.

4A/3A girls state roundup: Legacy, Canyon Springs ousted

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
