Roundup: Centennial rolls to season-opening win

Daejah Phillips scored 18 points Tuesday as Centennial’s girls basketball team opened defense of its fourth straight large school state title with a 90-31 home win over Cimarron-Memorial.

Eboni Walker had 13 points, and Addison Melone added 10 points for the Bulldogs, which roared to a 49-19 halftime lead and outscored Cimarron 24-2 in the third quarter.

Yesenia Wesley-Nash scored 21 points for the Spartans.

Faith Lutheran 58, Bonanza 28 — At Bonanza, Taylor Etopio scored 13 points as the Crusaders cruised past the Bengals.

Kelsey Howryla had 11 points, and Keilani Claar added eight points for Faith Lutheran, which drained five 3-pointers.

Macyn Raleigh scored 13 points to pace Bonanza.

Shadow Ridge 56, Arbor View 36 — At Shadow Ridge, Jamia Carter poured in 17 points as the Mustangs defeated the Aggies.

Vashay Young and Caitlyn Covington each added 12 points for Shadow Ridge, which outscored Arbor View 31-16 in the second half to take control.

Amiya Lattomus scored 16 points to lead the Aggies.

Mojave 60, Democracy Prep 23 — At Democracy Prep, Alecia Kelly tallied 20 points, and Ta’Nyia Zeno scored 13 as the Rattlers rolled past the Blue Knights.

Jaiden Rogers added eight points for Mojave, which cruised to a 30-11 halftime lead.

Sharmayne Finley and Zay Brass scored six points each for Democracy Prep.

Pahrump Valley 45, Valley 18 — At Pahrump, Kylie Stritenberger scored 10 points to help the Trojans get by the Vikings.

Jacquellen Stobbe scored nine points, and Kathryn Daffer added eight points for Pahrump, which held Valley scoreless in the third quarter.

Layla Jackson scored five points to lead the Vikings.

Tech 44, Sky Pointe 22 — At Sky Pointe, Tayler Muwwakkil scored 17 points to lead the Roadrunners by the Eagles.

Gabrielle Scales-Garza added eight points for Tech, which led 21-2 after one quarter.

Jocelyn Sanders had 11 points for Sky Pointe.

Pine View (Utah) 42, Moapa Valley 38 — At Overton, Maycee Hayes scored nine points as the Panthers downed the Pirates.

Averi Papa had eight points, and teammates Sophie Jensen and Alex Olson each added six points for Pine View.

Kaitlyn Anderson scored 15 points, and Lainey Cornwall added 13 points for Moapa Valley.

Needles 58, Lake Mead 26 — At Lake Mead, Marie Mills and Paige Murch each scored 15 points as the Mustangs beat the Eagles.

Jordyn Breaux had 14 points for Needles, which led 18-4 after one quarter.

Rebekah Fuller scored 10 points to pace Lake Mead.
