ROUNDUP: Darea’l Thomas powers Durango girls past Clark

Darea’l Thomas had 14 points, nine rebounds and four steals Wednesday to lift Durango’s girls basketball team to a 48-43 home win over Clark.

Nakyia Mandy added 14 points, and Jasmine Thomas scored 10 for Durango, which led 15-8 after the first quarter.

Bobbi Floyd scored 14 points for Clark.

Palo Verde 49, Cheyenne 41 — At Cheyenne, Mikayla Diers led a balanced attack with 12 points as the Panthers downed the Desert Shields.

Jasmin Kiley and Lily Tapusoa added 11 points apiece for Palo Verde, which took control with a 15-4 run in the second quarter.

Lajuana Brown paced Cheyenne with 11 points, and teammate Brea Thompson scored 10.

Shadow Ridge 44, Arbor View 34 — At Shadow Ridge, Sabriya Brooks and Jasmine Nicholson each tallied 13 points, and the Mustangs used a 13-5 spurt in the fourth quarter to outlast the Aggies.

Janae Strode paced Arbor View with 13 points.

Spring Valley 57, Moapa Valley 55 — At Overton, Jana Espiritu scored 14 points, and the Grizzlies survived a pair of potential game-tying shots from close range in the final seconds to hold off the Pirates in a game that featured 85 free throws and saw 10 players foul out.

Ayanna Davidson had 13 points, and DeTiese Moore grabbed 11 rebounds for Spring Valley, which was 13-for-36 from the free-throw line.

Ashley Noto paced Moapa Valley with 21 points. Chanel LaCroix added 11 points, and Malary Reid pulled down 12 rebounds for Moapa Valley, which made 23 of 49 free throws.

Boulder City 48, Faith Lutheran 42 — At Faith Lutheran, Katlyn Daly scored 11 points, and the Eagles converted on 15 of 18 free throws to hold off the Crusaders.

Whitney Barlow had eight points and Jana Williams seven for Boulder City, which led 25-16 at halftime.

Samantha Leonard had 19 points for Faith Lutheran.

Western 35, Pahrump Valley 26 — At Western, Aleya Ford-Wheaton scored 13 points, and Jocelyn Jordan added 10 points to help the Warriors down the Trojans.

Brittany Moreland had six points and 14 rebounds for Western, and Mylasia Smith had nine rebounds.

Shayla Dance led Pahrump Valley with seven points.

Bishop Gorman 59, Sierra Vista 18 — At Gorman, Zhane Dikes scored 13 points as the Gaels blasted the Mountain Lions.

Meghan Carter added 10 points for Gorman, which led 33-2 after the first quarter.

Melia Tadytin led Sierra Vista with six points.

Desert Oasis 63, Bonanza 14 — At Desert Oasis, Auburn Smith scored 18 points to lead the Diamondbacks by the Bengals.

Courtney Scheller added 10 points for Desert Oasis, which had 26 steals.

Centennial 66, Mojave 17 — At Mojave, Tamera Williams and Natalia Pitt scored 13 points each as the Bulldogs cruised past the Rattlers.

Shelby Valentine added 11 points for Centennial, which led 45-9 at halftime and held Mojave scoreless in the fourth quarter.

Teaira Shorter had 12 points for Mojave.

Needles 52, Palo Verde (Calif.) 26 — At Needles, Calif., Abby Chandler scored 14 points to lead the balanced Mustangs to the win.

Caitlyn Courtwright added nine points for Needles, which had 11 players score and jumped to a 15-2 first-quarter lead.
