Roundup: Grizzlies get defensive, down Liberty

Spring Valley held Liberty without a field goal in the third quarter Saturday on the way to a 37-28 girls basketball victory over the Patriots in the Battle Born Classic at Durango.

The Grizzlies limited Liberty to a pair of third-quarter free throws by reserve Alexss Parker as they extended their lead to 31-18. Spring Valley opened the second half on a 9-0 run, and the Patriots went 8 minutes and 38 seconds between made field goals.

Ella Zanders led Spring Valley with 10 points, five rebounds and two steals, and teammate Alexus Quaadman had six points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots.

Journie Augmon led Liberty with eight points and 12 rebounds.

Virgin Valley 57, Pahranagat Valley 30 — At Mesquite, Alexis Boatright scored 13 points to lead the Bulldogs over the Panthers.

Nathalie Lagamayo had 12 points, and teammate Melodie Martinez scored 11 for Virgin Valley.

Morgan Harris led Pahranagat Valley with nine points.

The Meadows 27, Mountain View 7 — At The Meadows, Kambree Takekuma had nine points to lead the Mustangs over the Saints.

Avery Kokinda added seven points for The Meadows, which led 9-0 after one quarter and limited Mountain View to one field goal in the game.
