ROUNDUP: Ireland’s basket helps Mojave nip Valley

Shanae Ireland scored the go-ahead basket with six seconds remaining Friday as visting Mojave nipped Valley 58-55 in girls basketball.

Ireland, who led the Rattlers with 21 points, broke a 55-55 tie with the basket.

Mojave added a free throw after Valley was whistled for a technical foul when it called for a timeout it did not have.

Jazzmine Robinson added 19 points for the Rattlers, who trailed 42-34 entering the fourth quarter.

Vanessa Corona paced the Vikings with 24 points, seven steals and three assists.

Bishop Gorman 54, Foothill 32 — At Foothilll, the Gaels held the Falcons to single-digit scoring in three quarters to pick up a win.

Dannielle Diamant was Gorman’s leading scorer with 11 points.

Foothill’s Mercedes Starr led all scorers with 12 points, and teammate Brigitte Rigon scored 10.

Bonanza 53, Arbor View 30 — At Arbor View, Christin Figgins scored 16 points and Alice Pitts 13 to lead the Bengals over the Aggies.

Alex Duncan and Daytril Beals scored 10 points apiece for Bonanza.

Centennial 92, Eldorado 39 — At Eldorado, Johnna Brown scored 30 points and Courtney Hayes 21 as the Bulldogs trounced the Sundevils.

Deanna Daniels had 17 points and Alexis Byrd 15 for Centennial.

Sierra Vista 48, Las Vegas 33 — At Las Vegas, Jeanette Jackson poured in 19 points to help the Mountain Lions down Las Vegas.

Sierra Vista held the Wildcats to 11 first-half points.

Tia Matthews led Las Vegas with 10 points.

Shadow Ridge 63, Damonte Ranch 17 — At Shadow Ridge, Elisha Hensey had 25 points, 11 assists and 11 steals for the Mustangs in their win against Damonte Ranch.

Cheyana Slocum scored 24 points for Shadow Ridge, which led 23-1 after one quarter and 35-5 at the half.

Silverado 70, Chaparral 46 — At Silverado, the Skyhawks outscored the Cowboys 23-1 in the third quarter to pull away after leading 37-31 at halftime.

Mikayla Thielges scored 17 points, Natalie Lainhart 16 and Alena Evans 11 for Silverado.

Chaparral’s Desiree Pierce led all scorers with 19 points, and teammate Roxanne Pipitone added 11.

North Valleys 50, Basic 42 — At Basic, Dorothy O’Melia had 13 points to lead the Panthers over the Wolves.

Shakia Walker, Katie Mathews and Laynie Cadd each scored 10 points for North Valleys.

Michaela Thomas scored 14 points and Marquichea Burns 12 for Basic.

Rancho 48, Del Sol 28 — At Rancho, Khalia Branch scored 13 points for the Rams, who used a 30-13 scoring edge in the second half to put away the Dragons.

Lorette Yared added 11 points for the Rams, who lost starter Shayna Porter-Banks to a knee injury late in the first half.

Amy Austin led Del Sol with 14 points.

Churchill County 63, Faith Lutheran 26 — At Winnemucca, Alex Faught scored a game-high 16 points help Churchill County cruise past the Crusaders in the Lowry Tournament.

Kelsey McCourt scored 11 points to pace Faith Lutheran, which fell behind 17-0 after failing to score in the first quarter.

Boulder City 43, Mountain View 38 — At Boulder City, Caiti Forrester scored 20 points and Jessi Forrester 11 as the Eagles held on to beat Mountain View.

Boulder City built a 19-8 halftime lead, including holding the Saints scoreless in the second quarter.

Patrice Marshall led Mountain View with 15 points. Ellie Markwardt, the Saints’ leading returning scorer, did not play due to an ankle injury.

West Wendover 48, Eureka 40 — At Elko, Danika Sharp's 32 points helped the Wolverines down Eureka.

At the Lake Mead Tournament at Calvary Chapel:
Virgin Valley 52, Calvary (Calif.) 24 — Rachel Morris scored 15 points to help Virgin Valley advance to the championship game with an easy win over Calvary.

Lisa Henderson added 10 points for the Bulldogs, who pulled away after taking a 22-10 halftime lead.

Lincoln County 59, Moapa Valley 38 — Maicah LeBaron scored 21 points and Marissa Smerek 18 for Lincoln County, which advances to play Virgin Valley in the title game.

Shilo Parashonts led the Pirates with eight points.

Lake Mead 30, Trinity 20 — Emily Dean scored 11 points for Lake Mead, which held Trinity scoreless in the first quarter.

Indian Springs 25, Henderson International 13 — Tessa Lounsbury and Karys Melgozo each scored eight points to lead the Thunderbirds past Henderson International.

Indian Springs led 11-0 after the first quarter.

Calvary (Calif.) 40, Calvary Chapel 36 — Sammie Mann scored 21 points for the Lions, who were eliminated from the tournament after being outscored 26-14 in the first half.
