ROUNDUP: Jackson drives Sierra Vista girls to third-place finish with win

Jeannette Jackson scored 12 points in the first quarter and eight more in the fourth quarter Thursday to help Sierra Vista’s girls basketball team to a third-place finish in the Savanna Tournament with a 59-42 win over Buena Park (Calif.) in Anaheim, Calif.
Jackson, who made four 3-pointers, finished with 29 points.
Jasmine Suarez added three treys and 13 points for the Mountain Lions.
Liberty 63, Canyon Springs 49 — At Phoenix, Destiny Whitehead had 15 points, and the Patriots grabbed a 30-22 halftime lead en route to the win over the Pioneers in the Nike Tournament of Champions.
Amanda Delgado added 14 points and Alena Evans scored 12 for Liberty.
Cherise Beynon had 23 points to lead Canyon Springs. Kenosha Wright scored 12 for the Patriots.
J.M. Hanks (Texas) 58, Palo Verde 40 — At Phoenix, the Panthers found themselves in an early hole and couldn’t recover in a loss to the Knights at the Nike Tournament of Champions.
Jasmin Kiley scored 15, and Lily Tapusoa added 11 points for Palo Verde.
Chaminade (Calif.) 47, Legacy 39 — At Phoenix, Chaminade took advantage of late Longhorn turnovers to pull out a win in the Nike Tournament of Champions.
Shakita Cox had 10 points and three assists for Legacy, and teammate Latia Matthews added six points and 12 rebounds.
Cedar (Utah) 42, Virgin Valley 32 — At Cedar City, Utah, Courtnie Duncan drained four 3-pointers en route to 16 points to lead the Redmen past the Bulldogs in the Steve Hodson Classic.
Rachel Morris led Virgin Valley with 11 points, and teammate Jenelle Weythman scored eight.
Canyon View (Utah) 64, Virgin Valley 27 — At Cedar City, Utah, Tori McGrath had 24 points, and the
Falcons outscored Virgin Valley, 51-13 in the final three quarters to collect a win in the Steve Hodson Classic.
Cassidy Crandall led Virgin Valley with seven points.
