Roundup: Kayla Harris leads Spring Valley over IMG Academy

Kayla Harris had 17 points and nine assists Wednesday as Spring Valley’s girls basketball team earned a 61-59 overtime win over IMG Academy (Florida) in the Sweet 16 Tournament in La Jolla, California.

Alexus Quaadman had 10 points, and teammate Garrisen Freeman supplied nine points and was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in overtime for Spring Valley.

Essence Booker had eight points and eight steals for the Grizzlies.

IMG Academy trimmed a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter to three points, and sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime.

Harris made the first of two free throws with two seconds left in the extra period, and intentionally missed the second free throw for the final margin.

Pahrump Valley 33, Bonanza 25 — At Bonanza, the Trojans held the Bengals scoreless in the first quarter and fended off their second-half rally to a secure a victory.

Samantha Runnion scored eight points for Pahrump.

Ally Bonner led Bonanza with seven points.

Green Valley 68, Valley 30 — At Green Valley, Temerity Bauer scored 18 points to lead the Gators to an easy victory over the Vikings.

Samara Miller had 14 points, and teammate Shelby Clark scored nine for Green Valley.

Jeuzel Pollins scored 18 points to lead Valley.

Sunrise Mountain 50, Word of Life 30 — At Sunrise Mountain, Trinity Lavoll, Esmerelda Balbuena, and Dior Griffith-Brown each scored 10 points to help the Miners cruise past the Eagles.

Cheryl Edenfield and Laila Whittington each added seven points for Sunrise Mountain.

Aniyah Brown scored 10 points to pace Word of Life.

Mountain View 32, Beaver Dam 29 — At Mountain View, Jordan Spriggs had 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists to help the Saints edge the Diamondbacks.

Sydney Stanton had 14 points and 20 rebounds for Mountain View, which trailed 23-22 after the third quarter.

Danielle Garlick scored 15 points to pace Beaver Dam.

GV Christian 54, Adelson School 23 — At Adelson School, Ariana Davis led all scorers with 22 points in the Guardians’ victory over the Lions.

Chloe Lamb added 10 points, and Abigail Johnson scored nine for GV Christian.

Caroline Altman led Adelson School with 15 points.
