ROUNDUP: Martin, Rancho girls fend off Wildcats

LaKissa Martin had 14 points Friday to help Rancho’s girls basketball team hold on for a 52-50 win over visiting Las Vegas.
 
Kanosha Grey added 10 points for the Rams, who held a 52-48 lead with eight seconds to play, but missed a free throw and fouled the Wildcats on the rebound.
 
Las Vegas made two free throws, and got the ball back for a final shot, but Shomari Harris’ 28-footer hit the rim.
 
Harris had 26 points, and Matti Ventling scored 10 for Las Vegas.

Green Valley 58, Valley 50 — At Green Valley, Maggie Manwarren scored 35 points to lead the Gators over the Vikings.

 
Rianna Rudolph had nine points, nine rebounds and five assists for Green Valley.
 
Kennedy Wharton had 26 points, and Taylor Payne added 11 points for Valley.

Palo Verde 69, Sierra Vista 49 — At Palo Verde, Amber Cornelius scored 19 points to lead the Panthers past the Mountain Lions.

 
Ioana Ganeva added 18 points, and Paulina Silcox and Ivana Ganeva each scored 10 for Palo Verde, which took control early.
 
Kennedy Nieves led Sierra Vista with 18 points.

Canyon Springs 65, Silverado 24 — At Canyon Springs, Mandy Chitwood logged 16 points and 10 rebounds to help the Pioneers rout the Skyhawks.

 
Alexia Thrower had 16 points, eight rebounds and five steals to help Canyon Springs, which led 35-14 at halftime. Teammate Cherise Beynon added 11 points, 18 rebounds and seven assists.
 
Brittany Loguidice led Silverado with eight points.

Basic 71, Eldorado 51 — At Eldorado, Dana Deloney scored 22 points, and the Wolves jumped out to a 19-4 lead after the first quarter and cruised to victory over the Sundevils.

 
Raevyn Allen had 17 points, and Jayla Brown added 10 points for Basic.
 
Denisheun Jackson had 26 points for Eldorado.

Foothill 70, Del Sol 24 — At Foothill, Taylor Turney had 18 points as the Falcons routed the Dragons.

 
Anaya Rodisha added 16 points, and Tabitha Winward scored 10 for Foothill.
 
Melissa DeSantiago scored 16 points to lead Del Sol.

Virgin Valley 52, Clark 40— At Mesquite, Abbie Barnard scored 26 points to lead the Bulldogs over the Chargers.

 
Virgin Valley grabbed a 19-6 first-quarter lead and never looked back.
 
Bobbi Floyd led the way for Clark with 15 points.

Miramonte (Calif.) 59, Bishop Gorman 53 — At Phoenix, Keanna Delos Santos and Sabrina Ionescu each had 13 points, and Miramonte used an 11-0 run during the third quarter to edge the Gaels in the Division G semifinals of the Nike Tournament of Champions.

 
Tonishia Childress, April Rivers and Raychel Stanley each had 13 points for Gorman, which also got 10 points from Megan Jacobs.

Needles 45, The Meadows 37 — At Needles, Calif., Caitlyn Courtwright scored 16 points to help Needles get a victory.

 
Kayla Hills added 13 points, and Abby Chandler scored 10 for Needles.
 
Anjali Daulat led The Meadows with 10 points.

Agassi Prep 43, Lake Mead 36 —
At Lake Mead, London Ward had 16 points to lead the Stars by the Eagles.
 
Shannel Andrews added 12 points for Agassi Prep.
 
Taylor Badua-Kono compiled 13 points, seven rebounds and four steals, and Taylor Vetter had 12 points and eight rebounds for Lake Mead.

4A/3A girls state roundup: Legacy, Canyon Springs ousted

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
