ROUNDUP: Monroe’s late spurt helps Silverado fend off Las Vegas

Tae’lor Monroe scored nine of her 16 points in the fourth quarter Thursday to help Silverado’s girls basketball team hang on for a 69-64 victory over visiting Las Vegas High.

Diamondique Wright scored 18 points to pace Silverado, which led 35-29 at halftime. Jessica Meyers added 14 points, and Brittany Loguidice scored 11 for the Skyhawks.

Matti Ventling led a late rally for Las Vegas, nailing three 3-pointers en route to 14 fourth-quarter points. Ventling finished with a team-high 17 points.

Shomari Harris scored 16, and Shauntovia Luckie 11 for the Wildcats.

Coronado 57, Chaparral 36 — At Coronado, Sofie Cruz scored 24 points to lead the Cougars past the Cowboys.

Caitlin Trost and Nicole Ruffino each added 12 points for Coronado, which led 25-15 at halftime.

Jaquie Ferguson had 17 points to lead Chaparral.

Foothill 60, Canyon Springs 48 — At Foothill, Bri Higgins had 11 points, 15 rebounds and six blocks as the Falcons downed the Pioneers.

Cheryl Harless had 19 points and nine rebounds, and Breanna Frazer added eight points and seven rebounds for Foothill, which used a 19-7 second-quarter run to open up a 35-17 halftime lead.

Cherise Beynon paced the Pioneers with 22 points, and teammate Kenosha Wright scored 14.

Liberty 83, Desert Pines 14 — At Liberty, Amanda Delgado had 22 points, six assists and four steals as the Patriots whipped the Jaguars.

Jade Washington added 15 points, 10 assists and four steals, and Alena Evans had 15 points, eight rebounds and six steals for Liberty, which led 48-12 at the half and 71-14 after three quarters.

Cydney Myles had five points for Desert Pines.

Highlands Ranch (Colo.) 54, Bishop Gorman 46 — At La Jolla, Calif., Highlands Ranch grabbed a 36-30 halftime lead and held off the Gaels in the winners’ bracket quarterfinals of the Sweet 16 Invitational.

April Rivers paced Gorman with 15 points. Amber Lane added nine points, and Tonishia Childress and Zhane Dikes scored eight points apiece for the Gaels.

Basic 37, Boulder City 34 — At Basic, Kailai Brantner had 11 points and seven assists to help the Wolves edge the Eagles.

Basic led 26-16 at halftime, but had to hold off a second-half rally by Boulder City.

Tech 51, Moapa Valley 44 — At Overton, Mesha Phillips scored 25 of her 26 points in the first half as the Roadrunners built a 32-21 halftime advantage and held off the Pirates.

Tech's Adriana Heredia added 11 points, including a 3-point buzzer-beater at halftime.

Chanel Lacroix and Brianna Harding each scored 10 points for Moapa Valley.

Virgin Valley 55, Rancho 29 — At Mesquite, Rachel Morris scored 15 points, and Jenelle Weythman added 13 points as the Bulldogs routed the Rams.

Gayle Wilmot and Kanosha Grey each had nine points for Rancho.

Lowry 50, Faith Lutheran 36 — At Winnemucca, the Buckaroos placed three players in double figures to down the Crusaders in the Lowry Tournament.

Kelsey McCourt and Sam Leonard each scored 10 points to pace Faith Lutheran.
