VEGAS INVITATIONAL: Destiny Gonzalez helps Warriors advance to semifinals

Destiny Gonzalez poured in 26 points Saturday to help Western's girls basketball team advance to the semifinals of the Vegas Invitational with a 48-43 win over Clark at Mountain View.

Capricia Pierce added 10 points for the Warriors, who led 28-16 at the half.

Monique Daniels led Clark with 14 points.

Chaparral 58, Shadow Ridge 53 — Marcia Hawkins scored 17 of her 28 points in the first half as the Cowboys built a 32-22 halfitime lead and held off the Mustangs in a quarterfinal.

Alexis Vanstory added 10 points for Chaparral.

Aubree Nish led Shadow Ridge with 19 points. Lauryn Calo scored 15, and Tamara Gisendaner added 10 points for the Mustangs.

Western 42, Mountain View 16 — Gonzalez scored 17 points, and the Warriors used a 24-9 burst in the middle quarters to top the Saints.

Pierce added 10 points for Western.

Mia Shingles led Mountain View with six points.

Clark 42, Bonanza 34 — Marieka Dent and Monique Daniels each scored seven points during a game-ending 18-4 run that lifted the Chargers by the Bengals.

Dent finished with 15 points, and Daniels scored 14 for Clark.

Jazzmon Ferguson led Bonanza with 18 points.

Chaparral 43, Pahranagat Valley 32 — Hawkins scored 18 points, and the Cowboys started the fourth quarter on a 10-0 run to down the Panthers.

Vanstory added 12 points for Chaparral.

Karley Whipple led Pahranagat Valley with 10 points.

Shadow Ridge 41, River Valley (Ariz.) 35 — Amira King led a balanced attack with 11 points as the Mustangs topped the Dust Devils.

Krista Jackman had 15 points for River Valley.

River Valley 37, Pahranagat Valley 30 — Baylee Butcher and Angel Lozoya each had nine points as the Dust Devils topped the Panthers.

Whipple paced Pahranagat Valley with 13 points.

Bonanza 48, Mountain View 32 — Megan Gonzalez had 19 points, and the Bengals overcame a 12-5 first-quarter deficit to beat the Saints.

Maysan Raleigh added nine points for Bonanza.

Tayah De'Bouck had 12 points for Mountain View.
